Red, should be a fairly good game Friday vs UHigh. I’ve seen them in person due to a family friend son senior night vs Episcopal Looking forward to it. Need to play our best ball but certainly not an insurmountable opponent. Very beatable. Not as tall an order at all as perception would think.

Speaking of, anyone else been keeping up? Whether it’s with their team or area teams?
We have Hamilton Christian tomorrow, don’t know much about them this year but they always seem to be in the mix.
Scotlandville vs Liberty will get the headlines up here.
Very interested in Madison Prep vs Hannan. This big kid Timmons just came back for Hannan and had 26 last night I read. People forget they’ve won state and Timmons is very talented.
Westminster beating central Catholic caught me off guard.
Zachary vs Ruston should be a good one

wasn't able to go to the LCA game but they held Northside to 41 in beating them by 15. I'm still not expecting a win against Carver but I'm back to thinking they should at least make it competitive.
Also, I see I was spot on with St Michael knocking off Vandy Catholic and St Louis Catholic making the Shaw game a battle. I think St Michael's run ends here but Shaw once against has to scrap for every bit of the win they get.
Don't know why I overlooked Lakeshore over Beau Chene in the D2NS bracket, should've gone off on my radar as possibly happening. In any event, the highlight there in the quarters is Carrol v Bossier, where I'd actually say the road team is the favorite but that this is a semifinal level game.
And in DIII Select, WOW was not expecting Episcopal to pull off the W against Calvary. And didn't expect St Charles to stifle Parkview out the gym like that, now that makes the Dunham game very interesting.
Oh and one more thing in D4NS, North Central lost to East Iberville?! In any event, that quarterfinal set of matchups there all look popcorn worthy 🍿

North Central also had some impressive wins and surprising losses during the season. Westminster Christian beat them I believe for the first time ever. Then Westminster beats Central Catholic. Highland Baptist got swept easily by Covenant Christian in district, but beat them on the road in the first round and lost by single digits at Lincoln Prep.

Southside beat them even though the Sharks were missing some of their top players.

Listened to the game, sounded like the Cubs were suffocating the perimeter and we had minimal looks from the outside for our shooters. On the other hand it seemed like the Cubs were making every other 3 they put up.

Yep, not enough challenging the big in the chest for Lab but all credit to HCA, both Vitals stepped up and 30 came in and played strong basketball in the minutes Dex gave him. You know I have and always will have a lot of love for coach Dex, best of luck to HCA

Youre spot on, one vital was excellent on defense, the other on offense. 30 gave them a bit of juice when they needed it. Dex has been so close, maybe this year is the one

#30 for Hamilton was a starter last season but decided at some point in the summer that he didn't want to play basketball any longer. Without him they lost a quality starter at the four spot. In late January he decided he wanted to play again and ended up playing the last four games of the regular season and one playoff game off the bench. It's good to see him back but he still isn't in basketball shape. Him not being there all season forced Dexter to use four guards along with the big man in the starting lineup. That's not Dexter's style.

I'm commuting daily from New Iberia. Watched Rosepine/Westlake & Huntington/Woodlawn-BR. Covered South Beauregard/Church Point and Lafayette Christian/Bunkie. But regarding the boys, I see U-High won. Scotlandville is a team I enjoyed watching at the Mal Mundy event at Southside. They blew out Carencro that day. Scotlandville has a smooth team. They were in the Top 25 all season until losing 3 of 4 ahead of the playoffs. Two of the losses were to Liberty and Zachary. The third loss was close to Woodlawn-BR. Lafayette High and Scotlandville were the two that dropped out of the rankings around the time the brackets were released.

Going back to Hammond to cover Arcadia vs. Oakdale. Will watch Southern Lab/Northwood-Lena and will try to get there around the tip of the noon game (Oak Hill vs. JS Clark). I'm trying to watch as many games as possible while balancing my actual job there, which is covering a few. LCA/Carver seems like a toss-up. I dropped LCA from the Top 25 when they went on a short losing spree after losing Jeremy Bargky. They were 18-0 with him officially. Had a loss to an undefeated Madison-Ridgeland (Miss.) Academy team at the Sunkist Shootout before he was sidelined. I"m not sure how the out of state deal works with power ratings across the board. They're not listed on basketball (though I've noticed them on baseball). There are a ton of good teams in Louisiana. LCA had, I believe, 3 losses in a short span and a non-inspiring outcome vs. North Vermilion. Went from as high I believe as No. 4. At that time, Madison Prep was 1, Liberty 2, Peabody 3, LCA 4, New Iberia 5, STM 6, Zachary, Wossman, Ponchatoula, Iowa all closely behind. Saturday, I'm covering LCA girls vs. Madison Prep. I'm getting tired talking about it.
