According to a credible source, Buckeye finalists are as follows: Justin Charles, Pineville DC Isaac Clark, East Beauregard assistant Aaron York, St. Mary's HC Anyone but York and his proven success, then they don’t really care. Any word on this one or what kind of time frame they looking at?

The word all over the area around Pineville and Alexandria is that Buckeye has offered York and they are waiting on a decision from him. No idea if that is accurate but I've had 3 different people tell me that today either in person or by text.

I think that will be a great hire. Then it takes us down the road to who will St. Mary’s get?

The Class of 2024 was extremely talented, and there isn't a whole lot left in the cupboard from what I can tell having seen them live a couple of times this past season. I wouldn't be surprised if the boys basketball coach, Jake Bankston, also cashes out and moves on. I have no personal inside knowledge about that from Jake, just a gut feeling about the timing and where he is at currently in his life.

Bankston is a St Mary's guy but has a bright future in coaching. He will be a big name one day somewhere and yes it's time for him to go. There's nothing left for him to prove there and his little brother and his girlfriend's brother graduate this year.
York has had a good run but you are right. The talent is gone come May. If he doesn't go now he may not get the chance to go later.

An AD/Head Football and Head Boys Basketball opening in same year seems would be a nightmare to fill.

I'm still being told that York has been offered but he must be struggling with the decision. Been told his wife has a really good job with the school system in Natty and doesn't want to leave and doesn't want the kids to leave St Mary's. Anyone know anything?

What in THE he-ll is going on with this job??
Is the Principal the problem?
Lack of talent?
Afraid to follow McLaughlin?
Great community and school. No huge pressure to win. What is the problem?

The Monday morning scuttlebutt among my fellow coffee drinkers is that York is indeed on his way to Deville, possibly as early as today.
Not sure what the hang up has been but I’ve heard everything from working out a job for his wife in Rapides to bringing assistants with him to York’s teaching schedule.
Whatever it was apparently it’s been resolved. Now we are on to speculating about the St Mary’s job.

St. Mary's rarely has coaches for more than 5 years before they move on to bigger and better jobs in all their sports. So yes, now on to St. Mary's finding a new football coach.

The more important question for St Mary's is how many other coaches at St Mary's are also leaving. It's already known that the boy's basketball coach is probably moving on and also hearing in the last hour that he may be going to Buckeye with York. There is also talk this morning that the baseball coach is also moving on and may also be trying to go to Buckeye. Anyone in Rapides Parish know anything? Clubberlang? Walkingturtles? Bluebonnetspearman?
That would be a massive blow for St Mary's to lose all three head boys coaches in one move.

He had a great year, also baseball at Buckeye won district, would they be coming to see to Buckeye to be assistants?

Massive exit of coaches at St. Mary’s. Bankston more than likely going with York to Buckeye. York and his crew didn’t want to necessarily leave but the talent is gone and I mean GONE!!! It’s about to be a long road for the Tigers no matter who comes in! Congratulations to York!

Thanks to both of you for input. Also just got told that Bankston will be going to coach the girls at Buckeye, not the boys. Also that the baseball coach (sorry not sure on the name) is in the process of trying to get on as a baseball/football assistant.
Yes this year's senior class of boys at St Mary's has carried them in all three sports the last 3 years. They will bottom out in all three sports next year and from what I know there isn't much coming up. Replacing all three with any kind of quality will be a tall order. Could be some down years for St Mary's coming up.

Has anyone heard the rumors of what else has been going on at St. Mary's that might be making these coaches want to exit winning programs??? Because they've only been winning recently because of this year's senior class of boys. They will be gone in 6 weeks and the winning will leave town with them and there isn't much coming up behind them K-12. For the next year or two they will be stout in softball and then that group graduates with nothing coming behind it. They will struggle to find 3 coaches to replace what is leaving and there won't be much left there to coach when they do find replacements. Some lean times ahead for the Tigers in athletics regardless of who they hire.

Hearing it more than coaches out. Word is multiple teachers are leaving at end of year also. Whats going on in Natchitoches? Two head football coaches leaving, and now a school with good history losing people?

Schools have rebuilding years in their sports programs all the time. There were years when St. Mary's had 18 players on their football team and Natchitoches Central had less than 40. The programs will rebound as they always do.
As far as teachers leaving, that happens all the time due to public school pay is so much higher than private.

Hearing it more than coaches out. Word is multiple teachers are leaving at end of year also. Whats going on in Natchitoches? Two head football coaches leaving, and now a school with good history losing people? I see you are a brand new poster and you've now made two posts asking questions St Mary's and Natchitoches Central in a very clear manner as to let anyone know that you have something to say but want someone else to say it for you. Why don't YOU go ahead and say what it is that are itching for someone else to say. Clear it up for us. As for St Mary's, they have always been highly competitive in every sport I've known them to compete in whether they had a lot of kids or not. I have heard that they are having enrollment issues lately and that this year's senior boys class graduating will cause them to be down for a while in all sports but it's nothing they haven't been through before I wouldn't think. If they are also losing teachers, that may be a more real issue for them than losing coaches. As for Natchitoches Central, I honestly think last year was their chance to make a move up in football and while they were certainly improved they still fell flat on their face. They are on their 5th or 6th head coach since 2017 I think. I am starting to think that situation goes way beyond coaching and more to culture in the community. There's no way a school with that much talent and that many resources can be that bad for that long. Curtis may have been smart to get out when he did, regardless of what the reason was.
