I remember when Calvary first started their program and Alan Rogers, an Evangel quarterback at the time, transferred to Calvary.
He had a good year in 2004. However, in 2009 Alan passed away tragically.
Do any of you Evangel or Calvary fans remember Alan and his time as a QB for both schools?

I am sorry to hear that.
Those years and the years before that marked, in my opinion anyway, the best years EVER for North La. football. It seems like high school football has changed somehow. It just isn't as interesting or as fun as it used to be back in the days of the great North Louisiana rivalries before the split.

Alan was a good QB,, I was afraid for him one JV game in which ECA played Longivew. After a particularly hard hit by the Loboes, Alan was knocked unconscious, and the game was cancelled. To this day, it is one of the top 5 hits I have ever seen in my time with the game.

I think the hardest hitting football game I have sver seen, and being a fan of Evangel back in the day I have seen some hard hitting football games, was West Monroe vs Longview somewhere around 2005. It was downright brutal. I think that was the year Vontrell Magee and Chris Ivory played for Longview. Two all state running backs.
WM had some hitters on defense that year.
So did Longview.

I remembered Alan and I had spoken with him like 3 days before he took his own life. He wasn't the same and had forgot what we had talked about. He was telling me that he was having trouble trying to sleep and when I asked him a question, he was a little off. He also was telling me that he was on the edge, and I didn't know what that meant. I really miss Alan so much and the hardest thing is that I didn't know that he had passed away until that Saturday morning. One of my buddies that i used to work at US Support Company told me at work and it really shocked me.
