I'm sure something similar has been done before (probably by me for that matter), but here is a list of former high schools that competed in athletics in Louisiana that are now closed, defunct, or other synonym. Schools that still exist under a different name (i.e. Chapel Trafton, Farmerville, Lake Providence) are not listed. Schools that were victims of consolidation will be listed. Please add any that aren't here. You'll note that there aren't many LIALO schools on this list, I believe that deserves a thread of its own.

One the greatest high schools in the state of Louisiana at one time with strong teams every year in every sport. A school that gave LSU an all-American and all pro basketball player in center Bobby Petit (St Louis Hawks) and an all American football player in fullback Jimmy Taylor (Green Bay Packers) The once mighty Baton Rouge High Bulldogs.
Baton Rouge High Bulldogs and Fair Park Indians, two big Louisiana high schools that have just faded away in the annals of sports.
Sad.

In Rapides Parish:
Alfred Wettermark High Crepe Myrtle/ JS Slocum High
Both are LAILO that existed for a period after integration into the LHSAA as well. I'm not sure is St. James of Alexandria came to the LHSAA or not.

I'm nostalgic about defunct schools, especially being an older person who can recall the athletic achievements of some of these schools from many years ago and not long ago.

I'm nostalgic about defunct schools, especially being an older person who can recall the athletic achievements of some of these schools from many years ago and not long ago. The automobile was responsible for most of this list… it’s one thing not to have a car in a small town, but once people got them, not many of the small town schools could last. Providing buses was cheaper than having a whole separate school. Look what’s happened to class C. Some of these places back in the day maybe when they were a little bigger really bring to mind an idyllic lifestyle whether it actually was or not… As a Chalmette fan in particular we’re pretty good to root for now, but I’d love to go back to 2003 Chalmette or even before I was born

Really impressive they made that work That’s something not many schools have ever done… change parishes while still being the same school Credit John Serio, the principal when Katrina hit. He saw that a large number of the Hannan families had relocated western St. Tammany, and persuaded the archdiocese to move the school to Covington

A little school in Monroe named St. Matthews once had a state champion quality basketball team, I wonder if that school still exists in Monroe?St Matthew's was part of the church in downtown Monroe. Of course the church still exists but the school had absolutely no where to grow so about 1960 the elementary portion formed Jesus the Good Shepherd School and the high school was moved to donated land and exists today as St Frederick.
Another Monroe school which still exists but no longer plays football is the old Southside High School now Southside Alternative School which used to be part of Louisiana Training Institute (LTI). In 1996 it became Swanson Correctional Facility and is now just called Swanson Center for Youth

"in Franklin Parish, there was a school for a place with no name, Ward III."
In the early 1980's there were 8 high schools in Franklin parish- Football schools of Winnsboro, Crowville, Gilbert, and Wisner-non football schools of Baskin, Fort Necessity, Ogden, and Ward III. Closings began in the late '80s with Ogden and by the '90s consolidation began.
Today there is Franklin Parish as the only high school with Baskin, Crowville, Fort Necessity, and Gilbert as K-8 schools.
