I was on Twitter and I was looking at some of the potential matchups for this year's Battle on the Border and I have to say that I truly disagree on some of these matchups especially in Day 2. I don't mind about Day 1 to bring back the rivalry between Evangel and Calvary. I also don't mind seeing North DeSoto taking on Edna Karr as well as Airline taking on St. Thomas More. The one that I have a problem with is day 2 in the 2nd and 3rd matchup of the classics. Why would Northwood of all teams like to compete with Mater Dei a national powerhouse that has some of the top players in the country? The same goes for Southwood (which is not a powerhouse school) taking on a challenge in St. John Bosco, another powerhouse school that has a lot of D-1 talent that is also from California. Loyola is taking on John Curtis and I don't like that matchup either. I do think that Day 3 will be a very good classic with Haughton and Parkway matching up as well as West Monroe and Ruston and the nightcap in a Soul Bowl matchup it is Green Oaks vs BTW. Whoever came up with the format should have thought twice about these matchups because Day Two is going to be a complete blowout of epic proportions. If the City of Shreveport is trying to get a marketing value with ESPN to have these games, they should have worked with other Louisiana teams that are powerhouses like Acadiana, Zachary, or some other Class 5A or 4A schools to match up with those national powerhouses. I do not hate on either Northwood or Southwood they are good schools, but this is not the typical powerhouse school that you want to see facing these California schools.

Absolutely an April Fools prank. I'll give you ten reasons
1. No way on Earth Southwood is appearing at BOTB 2. No way St. John Bosco is coming to BOTB 3. Definitely not gonna have Southwood play perennial national powerhouse St. John Bosco 4. Not gonna see Calvary and Evangel actually play each other anywhere, much less at BOTB 5. Mater Dei wouldn't even remotely entertain attenting this event 6. Northwood wouldn't agree to playing Mater Dei's freshman team, much less their varsity 7. ESPN the Ocho wouldn't even broadcast this 8. West Monroe and Ruston aren't gonna play a district game in Week 1 or 2 9. Loyola would be foolish to play John Curtis right now, and JC would have nothing to gain from playing them anyways 10. Despite all of this, the main thing is Battle on the Border is effectively extinct anyways
