Let's get down to the rat killing and what gets everyone's blood boiling. What will be on the agenda for the convention?

I'm sure you do, but that is technically a zone, it's 3/4 of a zone. The root of the split was private schools didn't adhere to zones. If zones are the issue, simply follow them. Many private schools have less than 25% of their enrollment outside their assigned zone so they technically should be non select

The LHSAA used to assign the private school the same zone as the public school zone they were in.

Select and Non football championships in the dome on the same weekend. Also fix the loophole that makes charters select Simple fix to the loophole. Put public schools that follow their zone 100% on one side, everybody else on the other. here's your problem as it pertains to NOLA schools: they officially have no zones to play by. It's the same 100% of a parish as Chalmette next door, except there's obviously more people and more competition for kids in NOLA. I think you want the LHSAA to draw maps where they don't exist... And btw, even if most of a private school's enrollment is from a certain zone, to make them nonselect, you have to make sure they're playing with the same restrictions and standards that public schools have under the law, and make sure they're not denying anybody enrollment. Everyone thinks the split was about competition, and it is, but it's also about the differences in administrating a public school vs. a select school. The principals who deal with this daily know this

The principals that are said to be self serving are self serving for a reason, what is the main reason? That has to be brought out and solved then LHSAA can move forward. Until then LHSAA will continue with one fail plan after another.

What exactly is the "main reason"...recruiting, attendance zones, E & JC winning to much, not enforcing rules....what exactly was the main problem that started this? I'm afraid that if you ask 10 people you make get back 10 different answers, at least 3 as the main problem. What do you think is the "main problem"? I feel that it was when 4A & 5A made E & JC play down to their enrollment in 1A & 2A and were deemed to successful. That is easily fixed with allowing them to play up again or using the success metric as in the Indiana Plan.

If someone thinks they are going to sit at the annual meeting in January and solve the problem, they are crazy. I think it would take more than a year. If I had to start solving the problem I would start in 1A and meet district by district. Bring each district Principal and Athletic Directors together meet, find the issues, then move to the next district. Once complete determine the 3 top issues. Then move to the next class and meet with them. Develop some type of committee to start working to come up with solution from the previous classes issues. That is the only way I know, but just coming up with another plan you have no idea if that will solve your issues, only hope.

I have one question that I would like to ask Bonine. Have you ever set down and had a meeting with Mr. Booker from Many and the Winnfield principal to see what drove them to put in the proposal for the split?

LHSAA reminds of "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" The three monkeys are Mizaru, covering his eyes, who sees no evil; Kikazaru, covering his ears, who hears no evil; and Iwazaru, covering his mouth, who speaks no evil.

Not sure if I understand the local part. I know Many respects Menard (same district) but Many has had Menards number for the last 4 years for sure, even before the split it was even if not more to Many than Menard. Just an example of what I'm used to. When Winnfield was 2A, in district with Many and Menard, Winnfield won more than they lost to Menard. I feel that Mr. Booker and Winnfield Principal was more about E and JC than local. If you can expand on your knowledge please do so. Thanks in advance.

Many and Winnfield might have just been thinking about Curtis and Evangel during state championship time, but the split got nearly every public school vote bc they all have experience with kids in their district that they want going to private or Catholic schools. Just bc those schools beat Menard most of the time in football doesn't mean they can't think Menard bends the rules in another sport for example

So, getting back on topic rather than re-hashing arguments that have been had on here a million times over the last several years: Does anyone know of any proposals to be brought up at the January convention regarding the classification and playoffs systems?

I doubt there will be. I think we are past that. There will likely be a vote to bring all 9 games back to one weekend though.

I also hear going from 9 classification to 7 in the sports that are split. If they do nothing to fix the playoffs brackets in the sports that are split, it will hard to continue to support the split. Not saying everything has to been done this year, but if they do not start reducing the brackets to 16 teams will be issues. They have to work towards balancing the select and non select brackets.

Not really even close to making it. I'm not sure they would have made it into the top 16 at 8-2.
