There is a proposal to change the vote needed to change the constitution to 2/3, currently is a simple majority. Put up by the executive conmittee.

And of course the previously mentioned Oakley/Iowa plan.
4 Classes, 3 divisions, would require redistricting after the vote.
Combines b/c schools, which might be what kills it.

why don't they ever talk about combining C with 1A? the only difference is 1A plays football and B does not

Only issue might be the number of schools that it creates in 1A Remember they would then take the total number of teams and divide by into 5 equal groups. It would push teams up into 2A, up into 3A and so one.

So, make sure I'm understanding the Oakley-Smith proposal to amend Article 8. It gets rid of Class B and Class C and divides ALL schools into 5 classes, THEN those schools that end up in 1A that play football would be bumped up to 2A for football only, meaning they'd have one district (a 2A district) to play in for football and another district (a 1A district) to play in for all other sports? That would mean class 2A would be very large for football only, I wouldn't think that would be a good thing...
Personally, I think a better approach would be to just get rid of Class B and put those schools into the class they belong and just classify them as Coed Non-Football. Then leave Class C alone since those schools are really small and don't play football anyway.

Personally, I think a better approach would be to just get rid of Class C and put those schools into the class they belong and just classify them as Coed Non-Football. Then leave Class B alone since those schools are really small and don't play football anyway. As I understood it, the plan would take B and C schools and combine them into one class and call that class "1A". Then they would take the existing 1-5A schools and combine them and divide by 4. So basically any school currently playing in 1A would end up as 2A because 2A is would now be the smallest ball playing (football) classification. But some of the larger 1A schools would potentially end up in 3A. They're going from 5 classifications to 4 that play football and 1 that don't. And the one that don't will be called 1A. Texas does the same thing. 1A for them is 6man football. 2A-6A is big boy football. So the Oakley plan seems to kind of mimic that, but we'll just have 4 classes of big boy ball That way you can drop the number of classifications and still say you go all the way up to 5A because 5A sounds better than 4A. I guess. I don't know what the reasoning is behind it. I think it's a terrible idea and does nothing to aid with the current situation.
