I saw on TV where the non power 5 conferences (Mid American, Sun Belt, MW, American, Conference USA, and a few independents) are wanting to do a playoff for their teams. They said they know they have no chance of ever playing in the Power 5 Playoff format and will never win a national championship so why should they be excluded from their athletes getting to experience a playoff atmosphere, so they want to start one that only involves their conferences, and will declare themselves as the Non-Power 5 National Champion.
Sounds very similar to what we are doing in LA.

Sounds like a good idea. Then they go to two 8 team brackets. One bracket for the power 5 conference, the 5 champions of their conference and 3 at large. Then do the same for the Non-Power conferences. Do away with teams with non winning records going to bowl games and make winning your conference mean something.

I hate it when I see people just say "make the bowl games playoff sites" It shows they have no clue as to what a bowl game is or the environment of a bowl game. That said, I do think the proliferation of bowl games has gotten out of hand, and the increase growth is starting to implode on itself. I am definitely in the minority, but I think it would be best to play a schedule, have a conference championship game if necessary, and then turn in equipment and study for finals. But that is me.

According to sportstvratings.com every bowl game this season has been in the top five in sports for the day save for one and all of them made the top fifteen on cable overall. Also, 2.5 million viewers watched Troy and Ohio in the prestigious Dollar General Bowl (Formerly Go Daddy bowl, formerly Godaddy.com bowl, formerly GMAC bowl, originally Mobile Alabama bowl when first played in 1999) And keep in mind that under the current situation, all of these games are unofficially "officially" declared meaningless by an official declaration that two games are semi-final games in the invitational tournament known as the CFP.

Ok, I'll bite. Sounds just like what's going on in LHSAA with the only exception being ALL colleges operate under the same recruitment/attendance rules.

I don't see where you guys are seeing the parallels. What some of the group of 5 schools are proposing is further stratification or tiering based on investment. That is not the division between Louisiana High Schools.

Louisiana Tech can put LSU dollars into their program, but it only pays off if the Big 12 (or SEC, ACC, Pac 12, or Big 10) add them since they control the TV contracts that decide the winners and losers in football

Louisiana Tech can put LSU dollars into their program, but it only pays off if the Big 12 (or SEC, ACC, Pac 12, or Big 10) add them since they control the TV contracts that decide the winners and losers in football According to a USA today article/chart comprised from public record searches, Louisiana Tech's total athletic expenditures for the 2014-2015 fiscal year were $21,849,000. LSU's athletic expenditures for the same period totaled $121,947,000. A difference of over $100,000.000. When listed in order of Total Athletic Dept expenditures, the first group of 5 team shows up at #54, and the lowest positioned Power 5 team is #56. Keep in mind this chart only includes public universities, so any ordered list may be slightly different from the actual list, but the information still clearly shows it is an investment issue. This list shows that 22 athletic programs report less than 2% of revenues as a subsidy coming from the school. The "lowest" listed group of 5 school's subsidy percentage was 26% (New Mexico)

Easy, they can copy the LHSAA and call it NON- select national championship!
