Class AA State Championship game. West St. John one the more talented teams to play in the Dome in that era. Was told they had 8 D1 players and a couple that went on to play in the NFL.

Tyson Jackson was the #3 overall pick in the NFL Draft after he was at LSU too and Quinn Johnson was a FB in the league for a while with Seattle and Tennessee I think

Easily one of the more talented teams to come thru Louisiana regardless of class

And that sterlington team was very good. Steam rolled a lot of teams that year. I went to the dome just to watch that year and Tyson Jackson makes a play on Davis for sterlington in the 1st quarter, my dad looks at me and says something to the extent of "Yep Sterlington is in trouble" lol.

Think about that, the running back that transferred to ESJ would have had to split time with Patrick Jackson (LA Tech). So instead he crossed the river and ended up at the "U". 1A school in population that play up. No recruiting, home grown talent. I heard the commentator in the Dome say this is the best 2A team in the nation and would beat everybody in the dome probably with the exception of Hahnville. This team defeated ESJ (5A) that year who had arguably the best QB in the nation.

I don’t think there’s a question, year in year out the river parish area has been and still is the most talented area in the state.

Possibly the most talent-rich area in the country in the number of NFL caliber athletes per capita. I don't have any hard data to back up that claim, but there sure are a lot of them from that stretch of the river between NOLA and Baton Rouge.
