It looks like the district 1-5A champion will be Byrd or Evangel. I personally think Byrd will pull it off and give Evangel their first second place finish in a district race in over 2 decades. I see it being a close hard fought game. I just can't see Byrd being beat in the regular season this season. How do y'all see district 1-5A finishing this season?

I'll have a better idea after next week.
Byrd may be too much for evangel.

Yeah I expected evangel to beat Parkway, however, I figured it would be a close game. In no way did I expect it to turn into a blow out. Evangels defense is amazing, and I say that as a none evangel fan. Their one of the best defensive units I have seen in a long time at the high school level. Their good everywhere on the defensive side of the ball, but their D-line and linebackers are amazing, their front 7 have to be one of the top 3 units in the state. I look forward to seeing if evangel can stop or slow down the dangerous Byrd running attack enough to win.

As an Evangel fan I get all warm and fuzzy hearing that about the defense when there is only 2 seniors starting

Wow that is scary I didn't know y'all Re that young on defense, which players are seniors (name an number) I have only seen them play once this year so I only no their numbers. I believe he is number 4 the MLB is crazy good he has everything you look for in a dominate MLB; size, speed, and athleticism.

Correct. 55 DE and 6 LB are seniors. #4 is Micah Baskerville and is only a sopre.

Only 3 offensive starters are seniors. 3 WR. 20 RB. And 71 OL. And #3 only played 1 snap against Parkway after tweaking his knee the previous game.

Man evangel is back then. Idn if they will pull it off this year but if they are that young they have to be favored to win it all next year.

I would have never guessed number 4 Micah is only a sopre. That kid is crazy talented already, by his senior year I expect him to be one of the top linebackers in the country. I hope he is wearing purple and gold after high school because after seeing him play in person in my opinion there is no question he will be playing at one of the premier colleges in the country. Has he gotten any offers yet?

give Evangel their first second place finish in a district race in over 2 decades. Calvary did that already lol but I was surprised by the outcome of the evangel/parkway game thought it would be close but stranger things have happened like Calvary beating Zachary lol anyways evangel will be alright in D1 cause it's a whole lot less competition top to bottom like they used to face in 5A but I don't see them being favored to win it all anytime soon. I'm putting my money on WM this year....but Byrd can definitely make a run.

Evangel would have a better chance at the Dome in 5A than in D1. for the most part, the teams in D1 are the same teams ECA used to see in 5A. As much as it irks some people, ECA is still successful.

That was more a shot at the spilt than it was evangel....back in the day Evangel had to play public and private powers to win to now only private. Evangel will be successful no doubt....i just don't see them winning it all just yet. But they will go deep every year in the playoffs no doubt.

I watched the Evangel-Parkway game and I'm not taking anything away from Evangel but Parkway is not as good this year as they were last year. Evangel is well coached and they have a sophisticated offense with many different plays and they are fast and tough on defense.
I have also seen Byrd play twice so far this year and I can tell you Parkway is not Byrd. Byrd should have no trouble with Parkway this year unless they shoot themselves in the foot. The Byrd-Evangel game may turn out to be the game of the year in 15A. I can't wait.
