Great Game. FP forced the Richwood QB out of bounds on the two point conversion in OT to give us our first win since the death of LB Tyrell Cameron.

Our coaching staff made some great adjustments. LT Major announced himself as a force to recognized. A very young team grew up a bit last night.

Richwood is very young, as well. They played a freshman QB,as we did. Some good running backs. Both teams have great futures.

Did any of you guys see that targeting call on fourth down late in the game? Someone needs to get these refs reeled back in. Absolutely wasn't targeting and essentially cost richwood the game.

I haven't seen the film. From upstairs it looked like a helmet to helmet contact that was well after the ball had passed the receiver. I'm told by someone that has seen the film that it appears to be to the shoulder, not the helmet. When you go flying in helmet first as a defender you risk that call.
We had a similar call against us earlier in the game that kept alive a scoring drive for Richwood.
My point is that very rarely do officials determine the outcome with one call.
But, if it was the wrong call, I feel badly for Richwood. But, FPHS still made the plays afterward to win the game.

Doesn't have to make helmet to helmet contact if he lead with his head and contacted his shoulders/neck area. That's still targeting. Had this issue with a person on another board with a hit in the Green Bay/Kansas City game. The safety could've easily wrapped up the KC receiver and landed just as big of a hit as the one he laid when he went in head first and targeting was called. They said their wasn't actual helmet to helmet contact, but when you lead with your head and duck down and going that fast you put it in the refs hands to judge whether it was excessive force or not. Just wrap up and their will never be a targeting call.
