is Our Lady Immaculate feeder school for Notre Dame? Yes, since Goretti closed. But most of them go to Jennings in the 7th grade. It hurt them Financially when Jennings included 7th and 8th grade at the new high school. Pretty sure OLI is feeder for St Louis

I had a cousin from Roanoke who was one of the best high school athletes this state has ever known. He was not allowed to go to another school to play football. Troutman? That was a long time ago. It wasn't right then and its not right now. If a kid wants to play football, they should be able to go to the nearest parish school that offers it, without having to pay private school tuition. That is just my opinion of course. But its not like every good athlete will jump schools just to play football either, plenty of kids who could be really good football players, chose for whatever reason, to stay at class B or C schools. Yes, it was Don Troutmsn. There was another good athlete from Roanoke named Monte Ledbetter. Without having played football in high school, he was able to make it to the old AFL and the NFL, albeit for a short time.

Stories like that make me even more thankful that they changed the rules to provide everyone the opportunity to play the greatest sport on earth. I don't know how anyone could justify not allowing an able bodied young man the chance to play football.

Pretty sure OLI is feeder for St Louis This might be true, but students from Jennings have played for Notre Dame. Yes they have. They also have had numerous kids from Mermentau and Egan (both Acadia parish) play at Jennings.

So, what is your point. We also had a student who played at Holy Cross because his father went there.

I wasn’t making a point, I was just stating a fact. If they want to go to a Catholic school they can go wherever they want as far as I am concerned.

Don Troutman was a great man. He was very good friends with my family and I miss getting to visit with him since he passed away. He showed me pictures of his Olympic events. Some one once told me that Michael Jordan wasn’t the first one to leave the basketball court floor at the top of the key and go to the Basket, that Don Troutman was doing that in his day. He loved sports and was not shy about calling games and players like he saw it. He helped young athletes get into college and on teams, especially McNeese. His roommate in college was Coach Matt Viator’s dad. He would often call Matt by his daddy’s name, lol. Good memories!!!

So reading all of these post, with many’s advantage to get players from the entire parish. I guess they make it to the dome every year and have won the state championship every year since the split. Because if everything a few of you say is true then they should be unbeatable. Last time I read up on them, I thought the only time they won state was 2014. I must have read it wrong! Maybe that's coaching, then?

I got a chance to see all of his trophies. He had them on shelves, window sills, and on walls in various rooms. At age 16 he won the national AAU championship in the broad jump. In doing so, he jumped more than 26 feet setting a national high school record. My brother said he never saw anyone hit a softball further. He was all State four times in basketball. And I could go on and on.

OK, so what are those feeder schools attendance zones? I seriously think you are an . A kid from Rayne Catholic can go To ND or Rayne High and be eligible. A kid from Rayne public 8th grade can only be eligible at Rayne High. If he comes to ND he has to sit out a year. Take a screen shot of this because I’m tired if trying to explain it. Geez, Indy is right. An 8th grader coming to Calvary as a freshman has to live in Calvary's district (Woodlawn) to be eligible to play, but can go to any public school as long as they have a magnet program, which most schools do. This isn't rocket science, dude. So who has the advantage?

During Don’s freshman year at Roanoke, he and his brother both made first team all state in basketball.

There are a lot of bad coaching examples all over the state but this is not one of them.

For those who think many lacks in the coaching department, what is your reasoning? What is many bad at that makes someone say their coaches aren't up to par?

Many currently has 88 players on the team. According Kinder Math, y’all have 4A depth. Apparently that’s a huge advantage over regular 2A schools.

Sounds like other schools need better programs where more kids want to play. 2A is still 2A no mater how many kids go out for the team. Next thing we will hear on this forum is how the rules need to be changed on how many can dress out on Friday. Get over it.
