With the technology out there and available to ALL coaches, I would think just about most High Schools would be able to run a spread pass happy offense, yes you have to adjust for the skill players you have. ( I said most) but, if a team lines up and runs the same 6 running plays on offense for 4 quarters you can expect a new head coach soon.

Acadiana and John Curtis make their living off the split back veer.

It’s not even coaches dictating offenses anymore, it’s the administration and fans. They want the spread because it’s whats hot and that’s what everyone is running. You end up with teams that have no business running the spread lining up in the shotgun and attempting to zone block and sling it 30-40 times a game. Heck I even seen Marksville running the Veer in their spring game. You offense is dictated by your overall talent pool in high school and feeder schools.

A couple head coaches, quite a few assistants, and a ridiculous amount of recliner coaches. I'm actually being inducted to the recliner chair coach hall of fame this year

I'm more of an old school guy myself while spread offenses are exciting I get real excited by an offensive line and rb shoving the ball down a defense's throat gfor 16 plays straight. Of course I'm a bit of a brute and a work horse.

Modesty is the leading cure for . Not sure about that, maybe a brain, testicle, and heart transplant might work. And that’s a big maybe.

Losing=check that board!! Winning=we chillin'. True story.
Back in the day, when West Monroe and Evangel controlled 5A football in this state Coach Shows sometimes visited the site that preceded this one. He wanted to check out the Sixpack Hex which I sometimes used against Evangel's opponents. Some people claimed the hex was a safe gamble on my part because Evangel always won anyway. But some of the WM-Evangel games were toss ups so Coach Shows admitted to one sportswriter who was on the site that just for fun he always wanted to see if the hex was on the Rebels when they played Evangel.
One time before a state championship game in New Orleans between the Rebs and Eagles he laughed and called it a big joke. So before the game I came out officially and publicly laid the Sixpack Hex on the Rebels. He made fun of it according to the sports writer who talked to him.
O.K. the game came down to one final play. Rebels scored a touchdown. Clock running down. Two point conversion gives WM the win. Shows calls for a run by his outstanding fullback (Banks?) And what happens? He fumbles the ball and Evangel recovers for the win. Coach Shows never questioned the hex again. If you don't believe it ask anybody who was on that site back then. Coach Shows had nightmares about the Sixpack Hex for years. What is the Sixpack Hex? What the history behind this?

Most of those teams are destined to lose, thus the "sixpack hex."

I haven't seen it used to it's full power since the early 2000s. It was particularly effective against Don Shows-coached teams. So it's power may have waned with his passing. Or maybe Six has simply not felt the need to use it since then.

I visit once or twice . During season , everything moving 1000 MPH , there is not enough time of the day !! Whomever wrote, administration and fans dictate what offense/ defense to run , I believe is off the mark . You try to run an offense/ defense that fits your kids mental/physical abilities and most importantly gives you a chance to WIN

Adaptability on both sides is key, great point. Think fans/administration get upset with the coaches after multiple years of not playing to strengths, or relying on a scheme that worked with a certain group of kids.

A dog would do to go along with the Head Alpha Coach label. As I said and Sixpack has pointed out so often, my record speaks for itself. If I make a prediction or call a play run the opposite and you will win 100% of the time. That Is what you call expert coaching at the highest level. Whatever he says do opposite and you are guaranteed success.

I interviewed a coach last week. It was my first time meeting him. He was very courteous and appreciated the publicity (he's at a small school that is "off the beaten path").
He was nice enough to actually walk me out to my vehicle, and told me in parting that I looked familiar.
I replied that my nickname is Mr. Clean, and he said, "I'm done (or I'm finished)...I know who you are. I remember you from the Louisiana Sportsline site."
Of course, I haven't been on here in a long time.
But he still remembered, so he obviously checks out the site.
I'm sure a nice percentage of the lurkers are coaches.
