I've noticed a lot people on Twitter posting the same thing. I'm with u on that one. I'm even looking forward to the scrimmages and jamborees this year. Should be several interesting games and championship races this year.

St. John will have a completely new and revamped offense this season. We are transitioning from a wing-t/veer run-heavy style to a pass-heavy style. We haven't had a pass-oriented offense since the mid-late 80s. I'm not sure our linemen even know what pass blocking looks like, but hopefully Coach Holden can whip them into shape before the season starts. www.wafb.com/story/38735700/sportsline-summer-camp-st-john-eagles

That won't work against Kentwood, White Castle, Lab or ACHS. The defense will be exhausted from staying on the field with lots of 3 and outs by the offense. Plenty sacks and plenty picks.

You could be right, but that just means we won't be any worse off than we were last season. I think it's a better fit for the kids we have now. Fewer big linemen, more skill position players. So it makes sense from a personnel standpoint. I have no idea if it will be effective or not, but hopefully the kids have fun with it and maybe entice more kids to participate in the future.

Are more players not going to St. John because of MSA, and are those students playing for Plaquemine?
Plaquemine always has one or two Division I players on there teams.
Plaquemine under performs in the playoffs. The last 8 years they have had loads of talent.
Not to mention the all time great Brian Mitchell for the 1980's.

I agree Raven. Could give you more success than trying to run right at Kentwood , lab and AC. High school run defenses are almost always ahead of pass defenses especiallly in 1-a. Plus I think it gives you a better chance vs the teams you can match up with more. I mean you can run anything you want vs those other 3 and it won't matter right now. But pulling out some wins in other places could be doable

A short, quick passing game that occasionally throws a long one could work. If depth is a problem they could just run it at a slow pace. Like taking the clock down to about 5 seconds before snapping it. Not all spread offenses run it at that Oregon pace. Having a check-with-me before every play helps slow the pace and makes sure they have right play called for whatever the defense is showing them. I'm sure the players will have fun with it.
