I really don't have a dog in this hunt, because I really don't care much about LSU football. OH, I follow them and check the scores, go to an occasional game now and then even have some purple and gold hanging in the closet. Been in the new South sky zone several times where you can really see the plays develop. I had season tickets for UL for years but end up missing more games than I attended so I cut them out too, so the red and white hangs in the closet next to the P&G. But here is what I see going on these days, it is not new, but coming to full fruition now that the LHSAA has gone to what Indy calls . (it really isn't , it's really more of a SnowBALL mentality, but I understand we don't have much snow around here, EVER).
Kid's cut their teeth on a very low level of competition these days. You're the best player on your team in Pop Warner, you're the best on the team in Junior high and everyone knows it, you're the best on your team in high school and everyone is telling you you're the next Dak Prescott. (the scourge of LSU). But in truth you are really a middle roader when you get to college, but you don't know that fact. Your teams really were not that good that you were the stud on and you did not play any real competition or face great talent from the other guys. If you did go up against real competition and they kicked your butt it was because they had an unfair advantage.
So you start to get your feelings hurt. You are put in your place on the first day of practice after months of fawning and lies to get you signed and on campus reality bites. Maybe, you took it easy the last 6 month in high school and neglected your studies and built some bad habits. Stop studying stopped working out regularly. And now the coaches who signed you are noticing that the 4.3 time you supposedly put up has turned into a 4.8 or even a 5.0. Maybe you got to college and the school work "math, English" was alien to your mind set and the word Algebra had to be defined for you. You never learned the rules of math or English sentence structure so you feel betrayed by the university system. You find out that there really isn't someone who can take the test for you because you are just not that important, but you still had trouble remembering what was on the "sample test" they gave you to help you pass. Of course there is the night life and all those easy females out there looking for their next baby daddy, that's another distraction. Nor can we forget all the free stuff and all the alcohol and partying. Quickly, life is no longer the big man on campus life. You are not in a league high school football association anymore, but are looking at linemen that are as fast as you running you over and man that hurts. You have defenders that jump your passing routes and make you look like the amateur you really have been all along. Of course it's not you, you're not the problem. NO, it's all those people who lied to you about what it was like and your true abilities. It's the fault of your high school coach who pitched you as a 4 star prospect when you were really only a 1 1/2 star. Sure you got a scholarship, but maybe those supplements you were taking are coming up on the other test you are failing and they have taken them away from you. All you know is that life just got unfair. You start to feel let down by the system so you decide it's not you that is the problem and you jump ship. Officially you are now a SNOWBALLER running from the fight and you do so when the first few snowballs hit you right in the butt.
I do understand why these guys have left LSU. They probably never should have been on campus to start. As I have always said, just because they are recruiting you, it does not make you a D1 talent. Or for that matter a real college student. Of course, when everyone is told they have to go to college and TOPS makes it easier for those that should not be on campus get to campus for a few months (at the tax payers expense) being a real college student is not what it use to be either.
Just rambling...….

Just rambling...…. Much of what you say is not really applicable or accurate. The idea that kids are not achieving success in college ball because of a lack of PEDs, or that HS coaches are able to up-sell lesser players to college coaches just aren't true. Remember these kids are attending camps and are seen competing against other top level kids at these camps camps. That said, the underlying theme is fair. The athletes have been accustom to being the best, and may have trouble dealing with not standing out. Also, you are correct that some of those playing college football/basketball would have little interest enrolling in a University if not to play ball. They aren't attending LSU, Alabama, Ohio State etc and playing ball. They are going there specifically to play ball. If that is the case, why are people surprised when they choose to leave if it doesn't look like they will play?

Most of these kids are transferring so they CAN compete. Justin McMillan gave LSU 3 years and he couldn't win the job. He's earned his degree so why shouldn't he find a school where he can become a starter. In some cases i think the kid realizes that maybe he's just not good enough to start where he is or it turns out he's not a good fit for whatever the team is doing. Some are even encouraged to transfer by the coaches because the coaches don't believe they will ever win the job. These kids have a limited amount of time to play college football and want to play as much as they can before they have to hang em up for good so they find a school where they can get on the field and make the most of the time they have left. Any player who wants to compete won't resign himself to riding the bench. On another note, Danny Elting transferred to LSU from Purdue, won the job and he got drafted. Russell Wilson transferred after he graduated from Wisconsin. Its not always just a cut and dry issue.

I hope Lowell Nacrisse does great things in junior college in Mississippi. I think Joe Burrow will be good in 2019, but not this year. LSU going 8-4 at best this year.

To be fair he threw 2 interceptions in the first Bama game and if he finished the game LSU probablly loses by 2-3 td's. Dude was good when he had protection but he was extremely stationary and had a terrible habit of throwing off his back foot when pressured. Bama was just the worst matchup possible for him. Still agree he should have went in at least after the first offensive drive of the second half during the title game. What did they have to lose lol.
I have no problem that they put Jefferson in during the Bama game. Sometimes you have to shake things up, which is exactly what Bama did this year against Georgia. My problem is that they permanently benched Lee after the great first 2/3rds of the season he had already given them. What did that say to any QBs that might have been interested in going to LSU?
As I recall, the Bama QB was equally ineffective in that 9-6 loss to LSU. Did Bama scrap him for the title game? No, they came up with a game plan to make him successful, while Les Miles was chewing artificial grass.

Lee was their best option that year. Alabama was just super stacked on defense. But their weakness was that they prepped for only 1 QB. LSU beat them by running the option with JJ. Les should have gone back to Lee in the championship, being that JJ was struggling at both running and throwing the ball. The Tide didn’t bother defending the deep ball because they knew he couldn’t throw it.

People will talk about LSU quarterbacks all day and never once mention the name Herb Tyler. Go back and watch the games he played in. He may be one of the best if not THE best dual threat quarterback LSU has ever had.

. Oh I agree completely. Led was never gonna be able to play against that kind of pressure but he should have played in every game after that like ole miss, state and the sec champ game vs Georgia. And he should have played the second half of the title game. He earned that and if you could find a way to get protect him he could do some things.

But against anybody who could bring pressure especially in his face he completely melted and threw blindly off his back foot. Dude still deserved better than he got

Actually, both were excellent HS players who turned out to be pretty good college football players in a dominant run first offense but just weren't able to perform their best against a tough alabama defense.
