Hawkins is the best QB in North Louisiana. If there is better please show me. Kid has accuracy, touch, and can make all the throws whether in the pocket or on the run. He stands in the pocket and delivers an accurate ball; he can roll out and throw an accurate ball downfield. He sees the field flawlessly and nakes very few mistakes. He made two bas throws all night.
His receivers were lights out and got separation downfield and on intermediate routes; the play calling was superb and the screen game they utilized was murder.
Their offensive line is the best i have seen yet in North Louisiana. Their center #74 is a damn man. They all move their feet exceptionally well and pass protect excellently. Their run blocking, although not as good as pass blocking, was still very good and got to the second level often. Running back #2 was shifty and had power.
Bastrops defense was very good. Looked totally different defensively than what i saw last year. They held the point of attack and front 7 tackled well. Their DB's were solid in coverage, but they were not good tacklers. Bastrops big weakness on defense is their secondary being physical and tackling ball carriers in the open field. Safeties will need to be better at coming up and making a tackle when needed. Sterlingtons offense was not very good at all and better offenses will exploit the weakness for sure.
But, Neville isnt beatinf this Bastrop team unless they beat themselves. Which, is to say very possible seeing as how they showed a lack of discipline a few times tonight that will cost them against superior opponents.
But Bastrop is a player in 4-A and will make a run if they stay healthy and defense continues to improve.
Boothound you are wrong about them. They are either way better than you insinuated or Sterlington is way worse than you figured them to be.

Lota hot air in this post...held the point of attack well😂😂. They played with an 8 man box and blitzed. Front 7🙄. You mean front 8!! Bastrop has a pretty solid secondary, minus a busted coverage to open the game. Bastrop played well, but sterlington isn’t very good. Big difference in playing any district 2-4A opponent (minus WO) and cedar creek.... but carry on.

Im not sure if you understand they’re zone blocking....and they’re going to be at the 2nd level. That’s what it’s designed to do. However, are they securing blocks at the 2nd level consistently? That’s a bigger question. There’s a lot of football to be played between now & Neville. Bastrop has to show that they have resolve to make it through a tough pre-district schedule first. Starting with next week against a team who beat them twice last year. Talent is there, as it often is. Time will tell.

Ya, speaks ignorance with such confidence and carisma hoping to influence or convence anyone that will pay him any attention..... then gets salty when called out on the obvious.... but will never forget the message board drama he created after he predicted that WM would crush Ouachita last year!!😂 Dude is a trip

Bastrop very well might be back but I don't think tonight is a great barometer. Even though some people were picking sterlington as a contender in 3A that was strictly off name recognizition. The panthers lost a ton from last year to graduation then probably their best player remaining transferred. For me tonight was more of if bastrop doesn't dominate than they are in trouble for the rest of the year. And people read way to much into sterlington beating down cc in the scrimmage. CC lost even more than sterlington did from last year .

They’ve got to use the middle of the field better on offense. Seems like everything goes down the sideline. Hopefully they’re just playing it close to the vest. If they stay coached up on defense they’ll be very good. The talent is there but it’s way to early for predictions. Good game tonight though proud of them...

I just look for sterlington to be down. And that is down by 3A Standards. They should still be a handful for a lot of teams I just don't see them being title contenders

Baetrop was to fast for them besides a couple of coaching flaws they looked gd. The fumble on the first possession got sterlington off rhythm. I was wrong about the score but sterlington has a gd team. However I will like to see the Qb go against a dline that can get after it! Gd luck this season rams!!
