I was looking at baseball brackets - why is it DIV has to play 3 game sets while their district counterparts in IA plays one and done?

1A bracket has more teams in it and the Div IV teams have much deeper pitching staffs. Div IV will actually play more games and have opportunities for bigger gates to split.

Thanks, I understand the gate raising more money and playing more games with the three game stands. the select (DIV) would have to have deeper pitching in order to be competitive. Did the schools opt to the 3 game series in playoffs or was it an arbitrary decision? I guess the better question is why the difference in playoffs with their public school counter parts they play regular season against.

I'm pretty sure the LHSAA made the decision for 3 game sets with Div IV. Not to say the Div IV coaches didn't have a say so because they very well could have. But get real. These Div IV teams aren't coming from towns with 2,000 or less populations like their public school counterparts. Those 1A teams don't have the depth to handle a 3 game series. The Div IV teams do.

actually this is what happened
the 2/3 series predates the lhsaa baseball split
5a piloted the program
it picked up one class per year
when it was the schools that were 1a by enrollment turn on the division iv teams put it up for proposal for second round while 1a schools did not
my opinion is due to only six of the schools having a winning record none of which would be in the top 16 in a combined bracket
