The Battle on the Border is soon to be a thing of the past. Who wants to see WM play Byrd, which should be a regular season game or Captain Shreve play Woodlawn. It started out great when local or in state teams played out of state teams. Saw some great games and teams play. Seems it would have been better to recruit a couple out of state teams to play 2 of the local teams. Likely will not be a huge crowd at 5:30 Friday or 7:00 Saturday for the premier game.

I'm going to play the contrarian here and say it is because Shreve should have their best team in history next season. On paper they are loaded, but that team I saw last year against the mighty Rebels was not even close to ready for the stage of a Battle on the Border event. So soft. So so soft it was cringe worthy. Let's see if their staff can't get them more physical this season at the point of attack and then they might be something special this year.

If Capt. Shreve is supposed to be that good, shouldn’t they be matched up against a team that will challenge them and give them (and the fans) a good game, instead of Woodlawn? We are taking about a Panther team that went 2-9 last season for Christ sake. I thought the object of the Battle of the Border was to have premier matchups, not teams that will lose by 30.

Shreve's upcoming team will not be their best team ever. I saw Captain Shreve play last year and I saw them play in 1973. The 1973 team was at least two or three touchdowns better than Shreve will be in 2019. The 1973 team was stacked at every position and by far the best team in the state. That was way back before e.

Shreve is not going to have a very good team this year. Last year was supposed to be there best team...not this year. There line is really weak this year. They though they were finally going be beat Evangel last year and we beat the brakes off them. They will be lucky to get past the first round of the playoffs this year. But good luck to them!
