Peabody Coach Charles Smith is 12 wins away from surpassing the All Time State Record in Wins for Boys Basketball currently owned by the late Joel Hawkins. The record held by Hawkins currently sits at 1,071 wins. With district play starting tonight against Tioga, Coach Smith has a career record of 1,060-184. With the team playing in only a 5 team district with 8 district games and our finale against ASH being a Hall of Fame Game, his shot at the record may come late in the playoffs or at the very beginning of next year's season.

Hate to see this because I was coached by Coach Hawkins ! Best pack I ever played for or against. He coached in Jordan Brand classic games and he had quotes from Jordan talking about his knowledge of the game and a big time coach. This record should be more but LHSAA took away one season and a championship because of Marcus spears

Better get it before the playoffs because Peabody is not winning it all in 4-A So far the only team we lost to, that BB beat was Rayne. We had dudes out that game. You're toughest opponent probably is coming up in Madison Prep, we beat them, in BR at Scotlandville. We'll see what's up then, but if we would've been in 4A last year, we probably would've won the title and I would guarantee it this year if we had any real skilled size down low. Living off guard play is too much of a hit and miss for me but it's what we got and they're great. But don't go crazy, we live off defense too and you aren't holding us to 30 points so I'm not really concerned about y'all, we'll get just as many turnovers and rebounds as y'all, if not more, b. 4A is not as deep as it used to be and if it comes down to us 2 with what I think is the only other threat, Huntington, I feel great about it. Time will tell. Figured you'd stop making predictions after you little STM debacle.

Who said i was a BB fan? I said Peabody is not winning 4-A . Not a word about BB. But by your response you are sure worried about Breaux Bridge. I am sure they heard all this talk last year by bossier and we know what happened. And just because Peabody beat Madison prep and BB don’t does not mean a thing, cause if it does BB beat rayne by 25 and it wasn’t that close. So let’s not go there.

You didn't have to say, your previous posts said so. We beat Bossier last year too, but that was last year. Again, we'll see what happens, but BB is supposed to be better than us, you have a veteran team, WE DON'T. We have few kid who contributed last year and a bunch of young guns. Lake Charles should be a guarantee, after that all bets off.

Back to what this thread was about. Coach Smith, his son and former player, now assistant coach Josh Ivory, will coach the West team for the 2020 McDonald's All-American Game in Houston, TX.

With the Regular Season over, we added a cancelled game from the beginning of the season to the end and won last night, Coach Smith is sitting at 1069 wins. He will tie Coach Hawkins with 1st and 2nd round wins and break the record with a Quarterfinal win and a trip the Semi-Finals. We seem to be coming a long great right now, we just got our best player back a few weeks ago after a month out over the course of December and January. I think we will be in great shape for a run at a title and it would be very special to cap with a Championhsip if we can.

Congrats to Coach Smith on win 1072 passing the late great Coach Hawkins and his 21st trip to the semifinals, in search of his 8th title and Peabody's 9th, with a 60-45 win over McMain. He is now #7 all time, nationally according to the NFHS record books with a record of 1072-184 in 35 seasons as Head Coach.
Also congrats to his disciple, Coach Lance Brasher over at ASH for his first trip to the semifinals in his career.
