I am willing to listen to ideas of improving the split, however when the last vote in Jan. was done on splitting the major sports that was a chance for some tweaking to be done. Mr. Booker had planned on presenting this last year but after Mr. Bonine asked for a year ( I agree he didn't do what he was supposed to do) that gave Mr. Booker a full year to tweak his plan on splitting. Instead of doing his due diligence he kept it the way it was and is now. I prefer not splitting the playoffs and using a formula with committee for appeals to try to level the competitive balance for all the schools in the association, but will listen to ideas. It was Bonine that wanted year, what did he do in that year? Cannot see putting it on Booker, he had a plan but the number 1 guy said I got this. What he got is nothing. Not arguing that Bonine did what he was supposed to, he didn't. But Mr. Booker had a chance to tweak his idea and didn't either. I'm not putting it only on Mr. Booker, I have talked to him before personally about different ideas. I came away from our conversation that he was happy with the way it was: bigger brackets for non-select, teams with losing records in playoffs, more games (more $$). I was just showing that there was a chance to tweak the split to try to fix some of the things that we on here have agreed that could be done that hasn't.

Pretty much sums up what a public school faculty member/coach is thinking everytime one of us has to talk to a private school parent/fan. That's funny. Telling lifelong private school people that they really don't know how their school works, runs, thinks, does things. Not surprising, though, as I do think that emotion and lack of true understanding is the biggest reason for the situation we are in.

Using a simple one-step guideline of 15 points over a two-year period (championship and semifinal or two Dome appearances), these are the teams that would have been moved up over the last 10 years. Obviously we could come up with different plans but here is a quick peek at this:
A couple of caveats - obviously some of this is skewed by the split of the last three years and there is nowhere to go up to beyond 5A (Acadiana, Rummel, West Monroe, Zachary).
Calvary Baptist up from 2A to 3A in 2015 after back-to-back titles in 2013-14.
Evangel up from 2A to 3A in 2010 after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2008-09. They continued with Dome appearances and championships in the ensuing years, but who knows what would have happened had they been moved up along the way.
Franklinton up from 4A to 5A in 2011 after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2009-10.
Haynesville up from 1A to 2A in 2010 after semifinals in 2008 and title in 2009. Subsequent streaks from 2012-15 unknown due to not moving up.
John Curtis up from 2A to 3A in 2010 after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2008-09. Due to not moving up, it is unknown how subsequent performances would have been affected.
Edna Karr up from 4A to 5A in 2012 after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2010-11. They won the 4A title in 2012 and went back to the Dome in 2013 and 2015 so it is unknown how that would have been affected.
Kentwood up from 1A to 2A for 2016 season after semifinals in 2014 and title in 2015.
Kinder up from 2A to 3A for 2015 season after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2013-14. They won the title again in 2015, so I doubt they'd have been depleted enough for two years in 3A to destroy the program.
Livonia up from 3A to 4A for 2015 season after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2013-14. They actually did move up to 4A based on enrollment.
Lutcher 2010 is a tough one. They won the 3A title in 2008 and moved up to 4A based on enrollment in 2009 and made the semis.
Mangham up from 1A to 2A for 2015 season after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2013-14. They actually did move up to 2A and made it back to the Dome.
Many up from 2A to 3A for 2015 season after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2013-14.
Neville up from 4A to 5A for 2013 season after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2011-12. Who knows if back-to-back titles in 2014-15 would have been affected.
Notre Dame up from 3A to 4A in 2010 after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2008-09. once again tough to gauge the result in subsequent years had they been moved up.
Ouachita Christian up from 1A to 2A in 2011 after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2009-10. Another school that continued its success in ensuing years on the same level but moved up based on enrollment a few years later.
Parkview Baptist up from 3A to 4A for 2011 season after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2009-10. They have continued their success in the years following, so who knows how a move-up would have affected them.
South Plaquemines up from 1A to 2A in 2010 after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2008-09.
Southern Lab up to 2A for 2016 season after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2014-15.
University Lab up from 3A to 4A for 2015 season after back-to-back Dome appearances in 2013-14.
I sincerely doubt any of these programs would be decimated by these moves.

Mr. Booker's proposal may not have passed if not for Bonine pulling his little stunt the Friday before MLK day. Public schools felt backed into a corner and came out fighting. Bonine was told by the MINORITY to fix what they perceived as a problem. Why do the public and private schools need to come back together? What financial ramifications are there? These are serious heart to heart conversations he needs to have with both sides. He needs to reach a common ground. He, instead, backdoors everything. With all this simply said, he's not a leader! A leader can bring 2 sides together. He has never made that attempt. He was ripped at the last meeting for not returning phone calls. Bonine was called out by a principal of a prominent public school for refusing to return 3 phone calls. A vast majority of private schools don't want things to be the way they were from 2004-2012. Everyone on both sides can agree on this. Instead, the best plan invented was a rural/metro plan that has never been seen in the United States of America. Bonine was laughed off the stage when he attempted to show it. He had to take it down. It failed by over 60% of the vote! Again, he's trying to pass the rural/metro! Show a better plan that actually makes a little bit of sense! Look at what the majority of the states in our country are doing. By going with a multiplier as most states do, would this not fit the private schools agenda? I cant understand why this has never been mentioned once!? Can someone please explain this to me? I, like many, have no problem coming back together. Just present a decent plan that will have a chance to pass.

THANK YOU
this current plan is probably not it... rural and metro confuses people, and B and C don't want to get together. they like their dying classes bc it means a better shot at championships

Why not put a multiplier on out of zone students. If a school has 0 then 0. If they have 10% then add 10 % to there enrollment. It would require to go back to traditional zones.

I, like many, have no problem coming back together. Just present a decent plan that will have a chance to pass. They schools should be unified because unless it is so, the LHSAA is in violation of its constitution and charter as a non profit and could have their status revoked. The financial ramifications are that they will lose 1/3 of their revenue from annual membership fees when the private schools move to a new association and they will lose their split of he gate in the for current divisions. Close to 40% of their annual revenue. This will result in MASSIVE cuts to programs, lose of employment and lose of the superdome as the championship venue.
