Not sure of the circumstances, but it looks like perennial powerhouse Peabody has fallen from #6 to #51 (dead last). Updated record shows 1-24... So there are quite a few forfeits. I would imagine it has to do with an ineligible player, but I'd like to hear more about it. Power Rankings

They played in some mop up duty but they weren't suppose to play at all in varsity games because they went to junior high in Tioga. Another school reported them but they fully cooperated with the investigation and their season is over.

did Opelousas have to forfeit as well? Yes. They had to forfeit 15 games. They're out.

Well 4A hoops this year has gotten a whole lot easier. I wonder if our bold, color font friend will want to put an asterisk next to the champion’s name

It was Carver's to lose anyway. Everything I've seen, they were by far the best team in 4A. Coach Roche has been building and great program and this was supposed to be their year anyway, looks like its that much easier.
We were really really young this year, a lot of Juniors and Freshmen, so we shall see how that pans out next year.
I felt bad for the kids, and I knew they were gonna push for Buddy, the assistant coach that passed away last week from Covid, but he would be proud of them regardless. He was a good guy, who also was a psych nurse for many many years at the state hospital.

Especially college football. Not sure about basketball though. Maybe college basketball.

Which of the football state champs in high school or Alabama in college do you think need an asterisk by their championship this season? And why?

Carver vs Mcmain could be a good game. Woodlawn Shreveport is also a strong team.
I saw Salmen forfeited their first round game. Anyone know why?

that is weird, I thought Northside was going to beat them but still, I don't know what's going on there but I'm sure we'll hear soon
Also, Woodlawn vs Ellender should be a close and fun quaters matchup, assuming Karr and Northside don't spoil that which I don't think either will. Both programs like to get out and run in transition.
On a different note...down year for Breaux Bridge athletics eh? Missed playoffs in football AND basketball this year, it's a weird thing to me (especially when I see Eunice basketball at 17 in the bracket).

That is strange for Breaux Bridge to miss playoffs in both sports.

That is strange for Breaux Bridge to miss playoffs in both sports. Having the same guy as the Head Coach for both sports may have something to do with that. I’m not saying he’s not a good coach, but thats an awful lot on one guy’s plate

Still, they probably should look into transitioning Porcieau into an assistant role in football and letting someone else take the head coaching role there (probably in staff) because Porcieau's forte is mainly basketball (also excuse me if I'm spelling it wrong)

warhorsepride...that's a very classy post you wrote. Not many would miss the playoffs because of forfeits and then say another team was probably gonna win it anyway.

And stated that he wants to continue to coach, but doesn’t have anything lined up for a next stop. Hmm...
