Basile will start its first season ever in High school softball next year. Of course we will have to play 2 years of JV. There are talks of baseball starting within the next couple of years also.

This is going to be ugly. I can see a big brawl going down in downtown Elton between Basile and Kinder over Elton kids.

We get about one kid every other year comes over from Hathaway to play football. While we lose about 5-7 from every class to mostly Kinder but others as well |

One good thing is that parents in Basile get involved. If I had a young daughter that was going to play when they get to high school I would start putting together a team now. Find a town that has a rec department and see if they will let you play with them. Kinder has done it with Iowa. Then from there move them to tournament ball. Try to keep the girls playing together. The hardest part will be developing pitchers and catchers. Especially pitchers it takes the parent involvement year round practicing. One good thing is Coach Bertrand is very experience with the sport which will help. Great for Basile and if they get baseball Basile High School will grow. As a parent that would be a great school to send your kids, lots of activities for kids. |

You look at what Kinder High school has for your kids, what Elton has and then Basile. If Basile gets softball and baseball with everything else, where are you going to send your kids to school. That is what I fault Elton's Administration for, they are letting the school die and when I was in high school Elton was feared in all sports. If you are not a basketball player or big in FFA what else is there. |
