This is a very interesting match up of two different styles of football. If Many can contain the speed of St. James and “ out tough” them, I have to give the nod to Many. St. James has a soft team.

Maybe you should ask Avoyelles and Coach Boone if St. James is soft. St. James and Many's teams aren't really so different, defense and a solid running game.

Offensively I'd give St. James the edge; defensively I'd give Many the edge. Many just has to prevent St. James from having any big plays. Easier said than done.
St. James is a lot of things but "soft" isn't one of them lol

I saw someone post that Many has allowed less than 200 yards rushing TOTAL this season. Just makes me wonder, had Avoyelles won, would Many have been able to shut down the Mustangs' run game? Based on last season, you'd have so say no. Also gotta wonder what Many's record would be, had they played St. James' schedule. I think it would likely be the same as the Wildcats'. This is a matchup of two extremely even teams, the only difference being that St. James has more of a passing threat.

STJ passing is much better than Many’s but Many’s defense is much better than STJs from what I observed. If you go off last year Many beat North Desoto 50-0, that stuff doesn’t carry over well, doubt Many beats North Desoto 50-0 this year but who knows

While the 200 yards rushing is very impressive, that is including all the negative yardage plays by a lot of weaker teams. Winnfield ran for around 140 and passed for around 70 I believe. We weren't very good, especially offensively, as indicated by our performance against Patterson. I think you will able to run the ball, especially if you spread it out and have some speed to get to the outside. The passing game will be there for you if you give your QB enough time to throw. What little I've seen of St. James, it seems a defense will have to cover the entire field against them. Far cry from a team like Winnfield pounding it up the middle for four quarters with 11 people in the box.

The only issue with the takeaways from that game are that It’s hard to get up and ready to play teams that you have beaten and often times very badly, every week. I’ll be glad to see some fresh faces for district and some better competition (no offense to WHS I understand yalls plight with a coach and all) that will push Many every week. Many gets those guys best shot but sometimes it looks like they are in recovery mode in district play, just cruising. Now if WHS gets a coach that all changes but as it is I wouldn’t look at any of Many’s district games for much info but, what do I kno I’m just a fan.

The point I was trying to make is if/when Many plays a team that can spread them out and run an efficient offense, it keeps Many's best players from just pinning their ears back and teeing off every play. Many defense does have weaknesses like any team. The question is whether or not you can expose them and capitalize. If they play a team with a good enough quick passing game slant/hitch/ bubble etc.. it's going to open up the running game.

I saw a 15 minute clip on YouTube of the Many and Richwood game. In that highlight package they showed Richwood’s QB throw the deep ball 7 times. Many’s CB had good coverage and made a nice play on one of them. And Richwood’s WR was well covered and made a nice catch on another. There was also one pass interference call on Many. The other 4, the Richwood WRs were WIDE open behind the Many defense and the QB just flat out missed them. I also noticed that Many had a long breakaway TD from the RB (#7 I believe it was), and Tackett Curtis had 2 long TD runs where he was bottled up and just bullied dudes, which was impressive as hell. But the other 20 or so plays they showed of Many’s offense, they were getting 2-3 yards at the most, and lost yardage on a whole bunch of them. I was also able to watch the St. James at ED White game…at least as long as I could stand it with those announcers for ED White. Search that on YouTube and you’ll see what I mean. Nails on a chalkboard would be soothing in comparison . EDW was able to run the ball pretty easily against St. James. But, as good as EDW is on defense, St. James had the look of an explosive offense. They have speed for days. The RB looks pretty darn good and the QB is MUCH better than the Richwood QB Make of all that what you will. It’s a highlight package from one game for one team, and about a half of a game for the other, so the sample size is small. Many is playing at home which will be a big advantage. They also are as physical a non-select 2A team as you’ll find, and they definitely have “been here before” which is also a big advantage. I know St. James won a championship in 2019 so those freshman are still around but likely didnt play very big roles. I’ll be interested to see if Many continues to be a man coverage/cover 0, bring the house defense every play against an offense like St. James (and what I saw from them against Newman). Or if they soften up to not give up huge chunks in the passing game, and in turn, if StJ is able to run the ball fairly well. Both of these teams are very talented. It should be a hell of a matchup and chess game.

St. James’ defense is better than you give them credit for. They held all 5A opponents under 30 points, and if we’re basing it off last year, they held Avoyelles to a lower point total than Many did in either of their games. Avoyelles had 16 points and then added a last-minute TD against the backups to hit 24. Berwick scored a bunch but from what I understand that was mostly done through the air. The only team that was able to run with success was EDW, and that’s because they had the size and the depth to match the Wildcats physically.

Seems like a lot of people are jealous of Many's success. People also should be proud of what Tacket Curtis has done not jealous. Congratulations to Many on another great season so far and to Curtis going to USC There are multiple private and public schools in this state with as much if not more success than Many. They all have supporters in this site. If you want to know the main reason Many gets all the hate compare the typical comments from the very vocal Many fans on here vs those other teams supporters. Maybe a few jealous people on here but I think it has to do with the constant chest beating and high jacking of threads that aren’t related to Many. Like the many poster that belittled JHodge and their LSU LB commit that’s not even good enough to start for Many. By your logic, we should all be proud of that kid too right?? As for Curtis, he’s a great player. Not sure I’ve seen much mention of him not being good. Congrats to him. Id hate to think that grown men on this site would be jealous of an 18 year olds athletic accomplishments. But it’s rather ridiculous to think that fans of other schools should have to share in the pride that Many fans have for one of their players. Guess if he was committed to LSU I would have more interest, but he’s not so I really don’t care.

In the bracket challenge I picked Many to win it all but as this division unfolds I may have shot myself in the foot. I think St. James takes this one then Union beats St. James in the final. Nothing against Many’s program just my opinion. Year in and year out they field a good team and this one is no exception. St. James plays a rugged schedule to get ready for this time of year and it will prove to be the difference in this one.

I'm not real interested in all the side shows. I just want two questions answered: 1. Can St. James' offense(avg. 44.5pts. in playoffs) continue to move the ball and score big vs. Many's stingy defense (avg. giving up 3.5pts. in playoffs) 2. Can Many's Offense(avg.17.5pts. in playoffs) move the ball or score on St. James' defense (avg. giving up 19pts. in playoffs) ? If Defense wins championships which Defense will step up to the challenge?

Just watching E.D. White/St James gives me two thoughts.
First, St James will hurt Many with the hurry up tempo because it will force Many into a lot of checks, which always creates problems. St James's O-Line is pretty solid on run blocking but I'm not sure they will be able to pick up 5 and even 6 gap blitzes from Many on pass plays.
Again, though, the up-tempo offense of St James will limit how creative Many can get unless it's already baked into Many's plan as checks and audibles. I think St James will have some success running the ball but if they try to get pass happy or if they think they are going to sit in the pocket and wait for those combination routes to develop it's just not going to happen.
I see St James running a lot of screens to their back and the Curtis kid will be assigned to pick most of those up I'm sure. St James trying to run those quick lateral passes in the flats probably won't go anywhere either. I think St James should take very selective shots on slants/sluggos/and straight go routes. I'm not even sure they will have time to sell a sluggo and then get it off. St James needs to come into the game content to run the ball as much as possible. A lot of Many's inside run strength gets eliminated when you spread them out when they are manned up everywhere. The QB runs are going to be the key for St James. If the QB has over 100 yards rushing, I say they win.
Secondly, St James isn't all that great against the run, although I'll say that E.D. White is very physical up front on the O-line and they are a top flight veer/midline team and Many won't present that problem. If Many incorporates Curtis more into their run game and if Many is content to hammer dives and quick hitters on the edge like they do so well, I don't think St James can hold them to less than 28. I just don't see it.
It's a great contrast of styles. Hurry up spread versus two tight ground and pound. If St James wastes more than 3 possessions with either turnovers or penalties, Many will grind it out, burn the clock up and wear St James out. If St James can avoid turnovers and not lose possessions to penalties(which I don't think they can) then they will score on Many a few times.
I honestly see this one going one of two ways. I see it tight for 2 1/2 quarters and then Many pulling away late, or I see Many jumping out on top on two long drives/runs and getting a lead and then a furious comeback by St James in the second half. Either way, I see Many squeaking it out 34-20

No way does our QB have over 100 yards rushing. He's not really a run threat, though he will tuck and run if he sees open field in front of him. I do think we stand a good chance of winning if K. Williams (RB) goes over 100...
I'll also add that I'll be extremely surprised if Many scores 28, and downright shocked if they score 34, based on what I've seen of them. I think the Wildcats are better against the run than people give them credit for. They held Avoyelles and some other pretty strong run-heavy teams in check for the most part. That said, I think they're weaker against the pass than they have been in past years, as proven by Berwick and ESJ.
I also noticed that Many uses a train horn, similar to the one we've use at our home games for many, many years. If anything, that will only get the team hyped up even more. The E.D.White game probably wasn't the best game to watch, because they were pretty banged up there at the end of the season and had some guys out over the last 2-3 games. Pretty sure they're all back healthy now.

Your QB better be ready to use his legs on designed runs and also on escapes. And he will see #4 coming at him a lot when he does. That's why I say if your QB has a big night running the ball then you are moving the ball and can beat them. If your QB has negative yards or very few yards at the end of the night you guys will lose without a doubt.

He has pretty good pocket awareness and does a good job of stepping up in the pocket. I'm interested to see how he responds to all the blitzing. He doesn't have the wiggle or elusiveness that some of our past QBs like Lowell Narcisse and Shamar Smith had. He's a smart kid and generally makes good decisions but he usually has 1 or 2 bad mistakes a game... threw a pick-6 on his own 2-yard line vs. Loreauville and had another bad INT thrown vs. Avoyelles.

No slight to Many or the Curtis kid, BUT... I was far more impressed with the Avoyelles rushing attack. Unless Many cleans up their sluggish offense, I just don't see Curtis or their RB's bullying the SJ defense like they did lesser competition. Although stout, I also don't see their defense putting clamps on that type of offense. However, I think they may be able slow them down if they can stop that fast RB from SJ. From the videos I've seen of them (SJ), they are nowhere near being similar to the Richwood/Newman offenses. SJ receivers/backs appear to be much more explosive and have the ability to make more plays than what most folks are accustomed to.
What was left out from the ED White/SJ observation was that ED White had a far more superior O-Line than either of the schools remaining in the playoffs, including Many. That O-Line made the difference in that game. Not saying that Many's O-Line can't be as effective, but the film of their last few games does not show an objective football fan that they should be feared. (Respected YES, but not feared.). It's amazing that folks only look at that ED White game as a measuring stick, when St. James had been pretty solid against deep-run playoff teams this year. Anyhow... from what I was told about that ED White game was that some of those kids are from the same community and that it was a rivalry game. (Who knows the impact that had on the outcome of that game.)

ED white and Berwick would beat Rosepine by 4 td's, and as was stated they had some defensive guys out. I can't see Many scoring more than 21, but I Believe its closer to 7.

Either way, I see Many squeaking it out 34-20 Look maybe I'm crazy, BUT how would you expect Many to score 30+ on St James when they scored 14 on ROSEPINE and 21 on Richwood? ED white and Berwick would beat Rosepine by 4 td's, and as was stated they had some defensive guys out. I can't see Many scoring more than 21, but I Believe its closer to 7. Nobody should pay attention to the Rosepine score unless they were on that field. Neither team could really do anything because of the field conditions. As for richwood, they have a very big and physical front. They lost to Union 21-20 who is also a final four team. Richwood was underrated and could have easily been a top ten seed. If they had more offense they would be a threat to win it. Scoring 21 on them isn’t terrible.

St James defense will also be solid. I have Many scoring anywhere from 14-28 right now depending on a few things. I need to see more film.
