Texas state championships are June 7-10 Mississippi state championships are May 30-June 2
Why are ours three weeks before that, ending on May 13th?
oh by the way, in MS, they play three game series for the playoffs like we do... the higher seed is the host for game #1 and game #3, unlike in LA where the higher seed hosts every game in the playoff series

They don't care about baseball

Its also possible these states school years go until early June as well. Louisiana Schools typically end somewhere in the middle of May.

Another thing I noticed… according to the handbook
We all know teams now get 20 points per win. But did you know, if you tie, you only get 5? That must date from the first baseball power rating formula when teams got 10 points per win. That got updated, but it’s still 5 for a tie

Easy answer is that they want to finish before graduation. State tournament was last weekend and our graduation is tonight.

I thought they played as many extra innings thats' needed to have a winner?

I've been saying for years that baseball/softball starts too early. They are the only sports affected by the weather. A March starting date with an early June finish would help tremendously.

Fewer kids would miss baseball due to basketball playoffs… if you get to the state championship, you damn near miss half the season
