Three openings right now in Lafayette parish.
Lafayette High (HC retired)
Carencro High (HC left for Sulphur)
Comeaux High (HC left for Church Point)
Lots of word on the street about coaches leaving & principals not in a rush to fill vacancies. Anyone have leads on who these school are targeting?

Anyone have leads on who these school are targeting? “Targeting”? It’ll be more like begging to take the job. I’ve heard that none of the 3 have even had a single applicant. All 3 used to be really solid programs but times have definitely changed. Lafayette High athletics as a whole is a complete garbage fire right now thanks to the mentality/attitude regarding athletics there. |

Baseball parents are choosing to move their kids to baseball schools. The talent is going to the same couple schools and players have to choose, either leave your friends/community and go play on a competitive team or stay and get waxed because the others left. Its not like parents are changing jobs or anything just rent a place a few miles away and that's good enough for the LHSAA. After you are established who cares, stay, move back, no rules. Meanwhile if you have kids going into a "baseball" school there's a good chance the kid that lives in the next school district will move in, and your kids path to a successful HS career just got a lot tougher...great system. If LHSAA isn't going to enforce any rules its ALL Select. This is another reason why coach's are getting harder to find. Got to be frustrating to have to recruit kids that grew up next to the school going to all the games just to have them "move" last minute.

Carencro has hired Jason Bonin as their head coach. Former head coach at Hanson, Cecilia, & Rayne. Most recently an assistant at Breaux Bridge. Good hire for the Cro.
