If a kid transfers from a private or charter school back to his home “public” school what’s to expect from the LHSAA ?

If a kid transfers from a private or charter school back to his home school what’s to expect from the LHSAA ? Was the private the school of first choice? Then the player has to sit out

He’s leaving that school and going to his neighborhood school So like Terren Coffil… she had to sit out But it’s plenty I see that was immediately eligible . I also saw on the LHSAA rules that you would be immediately eligible but wanted clarity.

So like Terren Coffil… she had to sit out But it’s plenty I see that was immediately eligible . I also saw on the LHSAA rules that you would be immediately eligible but wanted clarity. They change the rule like the wind. But there was a time where a kid could go from private to public with no penalty. An example would be at ND we had a running back that got expelled his Sr year, he was from Rayne and was eligible the day he enrolled at Rayne High because it was his actual zone. The LHSAA just passed new rules but they are currently trying to interpret their own rules. So I’m not sure if anyone can answer your question accurately.

Very true on the clarity of the rules. I think M&M transfers in zone are immediately eligible. But other than that it’s probably case by case even though there are rules out in place.

If a student attends a magnet school and returns to their zoned school then they are immediately eligible. I assume it is the same for private. I’m not sure how that works if the private school they are leaving shares a zone with the public school they are zoned for.

Can’t transfer within your home zone and be eligible, but as you said…if you are out of zone and transfer back to a school in your home zone you will be immediately eligible. This is how the big tackle from Captain Shreve that transferred to Calvary will be eligible.
