Really excited to see how the defense bounce back. Those two defensive ends will be seniors this year and are replacing two power 5 defensive ends that were three year starters. Mayfield was a three year starter at middle linebacker and a three time all state first team member. Nate Johnson was a three year starter as well at the rover position. I hope you’re right about the replacements but man those seniors made Baugh and Kyle Williams life easy the past three years. Special group and will be hard to replace and for the love a football, Baugh stop kicking on-sides every time on kickoff. Maybe he did that because he knew that his defense would stand the task. Oh and you mentioned the secondary. The secondary is good with a tremendous front seven, and yes the Cats had that last year. Ruston coaching has proved itself. Those two DE's are good. I've seen them play multiple times. Long. Athletic. Just needed some reps and gain a few LBS. They will continue doing that of course. #12 is legit. He is a player. Not Mayfield but more than serviceable. The secondary may lose Johnson but Hunts boy is a talent. Coaching. You coach to create a program that just churns them out. They are doing that. With a lock down corner and leadership at all levels of the defense with a leader at QB who proved his merit in the playoffs (especially the second half of the title game) ruston will be fine. Their offense finds a few linemen the defenses job will be helluva lot easier as that offense will be top 5 in the state with all that talent. Offensive will be exciting!!! I’m hearing a lot about Westgate this year. When they came to Ruston this year, man they look the part. Very , very talented and I was impressed with the coaching staff and their discipline. Only time I seen Jordan Hayes get caught from behind in a game in two years. Destrehan seems like they’ll be loaded on offense as well. Talented quarterback and a plethora of receivers. Really feel like if their head coach didn’t if the medical diagnosis, they would’ve played better against Zachary. I feel like they would’ve played us more tougher in the championship than Zachary. At any rate, can’t wait to see how this year plays out. Oh and I can’t sleep on Alexandria. I hear they have a talented freshman team along with West Monroe. Neville should be stout as well. This 2-5A district is going to be an interesting race this year.

Destrehan looks like they’ll be loaded on offense this year as well. Talented quarterback and a plethora of offensive weapon’s especially at receiver. Really believe that if there head coach didn’t miss that quarterfinal game against Zachary, that they would’ve won. Just my opinion from watching them over the last couple of years. I feel like they would’ve played us more tougher than Zachary did in the playoffs. I was really surprised at how undisciplined Zachary was. Kept shooting themselves in the foot. At any rate I can’t wait to see how this year plays out. Not to familiar with the teams below Alexandria in 5A so I learn a lot about teams on this board from down south. Oh I can’t sleep on Alexandria this year because they were a great football team and have some up and coming talent in their freshman class. I west Monroe will be better I truly believe just because of the buy in I’m hearing from some. They have a really talented freshman group as well. Neville will be stout to. The 2-5A district is going to be an interesting race this year.

The 2-5A district is going to be an interesting race this year. If what is said about Conner and Dade is true I expect ouachita will be much improved. They return a lot and those two monsters inside at DT will be possibly the best duo in the state. Dylan Berymon received his LSU offer about a month back and AJ Washington will be getting a lot of looks as well soon from around the country. We will see what Benji can do with all those returning starters and possibly having Conner and Dade on offense with the returning kids they already have on offense. WM definitely has buy in. One of their players recently quoted as saying they will be championship contenders this season. We will get to see if that plays out. Hard to believe losing Federico, Moore, and Edmontson along with 3 OL, one being a DI signee, but thats why they play the games. Should be exciting to see how it all plays out. I expect 2-5A to be very strong next year. Funny you mentioned zachary and discipline. A guy I know was just commenting on that the other day when referring to the Ruston game. People have been talking about their discipline issues for a few years now. They still have an incredible amount of talent coming up. They will be the favorite in 5A in two years I believe with that freshman QB and their massive linemen on both sides of the ball coming up. They have a special group from juniors to freshman next year. Discipline is their biggest issue.

The 2-5A district is going to be an interesting race this year. ASH is going to be VERY good on offense. JT Lindsey returns for his senior season after rushing for 1,500 yards. He's a top-10 back in the state and has been receiving a number of offers, including Ole Miss yesterday. The new QB is going to be the best one that Bachman has had at ASH. He spins it really well and has great footwork. Darius Washington returns at WR and should have a huge senior season, and they have a sopre name Alex Fontenot who has the chance to be really special. They should be bigger and better along the offensive front, too, led by senior Jakobi Morris. The question marks come on defense, where they have to replace three-year starter Jason Blackwell at free safety and the two cornerbacks (Amyrion Mingo and Jaylin Johnson) who moved over from receiver during the season to shore up the secondary. Omarion Ford at LB and Aayden Walker/Jeremiah Jeffers-Wright at DL are both big losses, as well.
