This was announced today. The Class of 2024 will be announced on Final Four weekend in Phoenix.
There is a big celebration tomorrow night during the Hall of Fame game against Avoyelles Charter. All of the championship teams have been invited back. This has been planned since before the season started. I have wondered if he would announce his retirement and after the announcement today, it could be very possible.

Thats awesome for Hall of Fame Did he announce anything? He did not but, I heard from a good source (a former player), that it is his last year. I do know, my classmate is also filming a documentary on him currently, so it would seem, he may be putting a bow on things, BUT nothing official as of yet. He is 74 and has been teaching for about 50 years, almost all at Peabody. Head coach for, 39 of those, I believe so it would not surprise me.

Would be awesome if he can go out with a HOF nod and one more state title. Last Dance-esque right there.

The talent is there, its showed up through the injuries at times and its been times they've just not been good enough. Semi-final rematch of a game they should not have lost last year, mostly the same kids, we'll see how bad they want it this week. If we do somehow win, I hope he does retire and goes out on top, as he should.

After THAT game, a win and based on his reaction, I think he's done. Fairytale ending! Wow!

Congrats to the goat of LHSAA basketball coaches, looks like this was his last run and what a run it was! A great man above all else from everything I've heard and read, great leader of young men, and when it came to on the court, a near perfect mix of getting his teams out and running while never sacrificing very disciplined ball on both ends.

Congratulations to Coach Smith, he is officially in the Naismith Hall of Fame. The official announcement will be made during one of the games later today at the Final Four but they showcased the class during a special this morning.
Congrats to him and another Louisiana legend, Seimone Augustus for going in as well.
