Mike Thomas announced that after our playoff run, he will be retiring… knowing how we operate we might already know whom we want to take over, but this is new AD Richard Walker’s biggest hire yet.
Two names i’d watch closely are Matthew Tucker and Malik Blaise… both Chalmette alumni
Tucker (‘05) was a former assistant whom has also coached middle school ball and is instrumental in the Chalmette Reign travel program
Blaise (‘15) was a former all-state shortstop who played college at Southern where he was a star on an NCAA regional team, and had a short Indy ball career. He’s been an assistant coach for Dillard and has also assisted our football team
One more outside possibility is Buddy Turnage… he’s been spotted at a few of our games and was Tucker’s head coach in 2005 when we went to the 3A state tournament. However Pearl River is a good job too and it’s hard to see him leaving.
