Could this school be the New dominant athletic program in the Lafayette area? I see where they just made a big time basketball hire to go along with their football hires, which I thought were outstanding. Just curious, everyone’s thoughts?

This will be a perfect set up for what they were building at LCA, without the headache from paying parents. What we thought LCA would be will now just transition here. Expect a Championship in the next 4 years.

Pastor Jay isn't going to back down, though. Should be an intense rivalry. LCA has talent coming back in football.

The Names associated with LCA is what was bringing the talent. Pastor Jay has a lot of work to do. I expect LCA to be Ascension Episcopal in 4 years. We will see...

Who knows what the future holds, and I expect LRCH to be a major player within a short period of time, but you’re right. LCA will still be a very talented football team next season. 4 OL are back, a fantastic RB returns, 2 starters at WR return and there is a stable of good ones that couldn’t get on the field last year. Losing Ju’Juan Johnson is obviously an enormous loss at QB, but rising junior Braylon Walker has a similar skill set. He throws it well and is exceptional with the ball in his hands. And he’ll be surrounded by talented guys that have played a lot of football. On defense, LCA will have one of the best secondary’s in the state and there are some talented kids at LB. They will need to develop some guys on the DL, but there are a few kids that have a chance to be good ones. The non-district schedule is crazy tough (Rummel, Carencro, Westgate, Central, Evangel), and with so much inexperience on defense, the early part of the year may be tough, but I fully expect the Knights to be one of a handful of teams competing for the Select D3 state championship.

Without Ju'Juan Johnson they become very average, regardless of what is coming back. I watched them in the Dome and without some of Johnson's playmaking and ad lib highlights, they weren't a threat to win the game. They could very realistically be 0-5 before ever hitting district. I say Quarterfinals at best, and by 2025, LRCH will have cleaned out LCA's pipeline of talent.

He showed what he could do against Teurlings Catholic. They're bringing back outstanding talent in the secondary, offensive backfield and receiver. St. Thomas More was the best overall team in the state IMO. No shame in losing to them twice.

But basing your opinion on the worst game they played all year, against what was the best team in the state last year (regardless of class), may not be the best barometer. Maybe get on YouTube and watch the blowout wins over Acadiana, Jesuit, Woodlawn, Teurlings and Westgate…and the first game with STM. Certainly Ju’Juan had a lot to do with those, but a bunch of returning players also had a hand in them. That said, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that they start this season with a few losses. The non-district schedule is a beast. But by the end of the year, if they stay relatively healthy, they will be in the mix in SD3.

No doubt LCA has residual talent for the next couple years but going forward is gonna be different and difficult. LRC has y’all coaches and will get their share of the area talent. It’s obvious why LCA dropped down to 2A. It’s also gonna be tough competing for enrollment in general. Y’all’s tuition is half of TC and that obviously helped but now LCA is competing against free tuition with Trev at the helm of LRC.

I honestly don’t see LCA falling apart due to LRC. LCA has some Good talent at the middle school level. I don’t see these kids leaving to go to LRC.

Falling apart no, competing at the same level, also no. And no one knows this better than LCA, that’s why they dropped back down to 2A and will likely end up at some point back in 1A. It will be a fight for them to keep their enrollment up. Ascension Episcopals enrollment was on a steady incline until they built ARCA right down the road, since then it been steadily declining. Parents and students have a lot of good choices in that area. TC, Carencro, LCA and LRC. LRC didn’t exist a few years ago, now they are bigger than LCA and probably will be 3A or even 4A soon, plus they have Trev Faulk.

Well then you may need to invest in some glasses, because a mass exodus will occur. LCA will go back to being a Normal Private school with Above average football. The days of competing for state every year are over. This will be there best year going forward; expect a big drop off in the next 3 years.. 8-2 7-3 at best this year; 7-3 or 6-4 2nd year and the years after. They are Lucky ND is the only team with a Pulse in there district.

I have herd they (Laf Ren) are 2 years away from real contention, but will be competitive from the jump. The LCA game will be a GREAT environment, but THIS years LCA Team will be the heavy Favorite. Now understand My comparison is to what LCA has been for the last 6 or 7 years. They have set there own standard; which is pretty much unbelievable the run they had. It is crazy what they were able to do there the last 10 years. The talent level was unreal..
