Our head coach, Ross Blankensip resigned this past week, won't get into it but we loved him and one of the best baseball coaches in the state!
He went to Sulphur to be assistant coach with their new Head Coach from Zachary Jesse Cassard.
Best of Luck Coach Ross

works out well for sulphur, sucks for sam houston. i'm guessing this stems from things that happened last year, surprised he was able to stay as long as he did.

Principal used last year's ejection as a reason. If that was a reason he would not have been back to start the school year. Main reason is the coach kicked off a big boosters kid. SAD

Blankenship put his hands on an umpire vs Barbe game last year. No he did not shove, but placing of hands on an umpire is serious business. Do i think he should have been fired for that? No. He's a good guy and excellent coach. but i think as someone indicated above, it was more of boosters getting involved

He should try to go ahead and get in at the college level ASAP. He's too old school and tough for the current PC climate.

Didn't he have problems at West Monroe & got fired? Don't know how true this is but I've heard he was let go from WM because he was yelling at his pitcher calling him a from the dugout. I know several parents there didn't really like him. But that's cause he didn't play WM politics and played who he felt deserved to be out there. I think he's an excellent coach and definitely shouldn't be an assistant anywhere.

Although it may be true, I believe people may frown on such language to 15-19 year olds at WM. Probably could have put it differently out loud & privately expressed himself. Somebody told me he was fired at St. Louis/LC the year he won the state championship there. Seeing a pattern here. In every business you better be able to get along with people or you won't be anywhere for any length of time. The old saying "wearing out your welcome" may apply here. Even the great coaches in Louisiana, like Cecchini, Bass, Crezzard, & Woodruff, all had to get along with folks in whatever manner they used. Undoubtedly this guy can coach, but he is in a people business. In my humble opinion....
