Well since we have a softball thread i figured I'd start a baseball thread. What is the best district and who's gonna make it to Sulphur AND who's the team to beat ?

I believe the finals could be some combination of Kinder, Doyle, Sterlington, Rosepine, Mangham or DeQuincy. Welsh looked pretty good in the umpire scrimmage on Saturday...The Greyhounds could definitely win a one gamer with Hayes on the mound... Don't know about the rest of their arms. Also, teams like Mamou and Lakeside traditionally have strong programs.

Kinder will contend. They did lose a lot of arms to next level but should be solid again. Well coached and good athletes. Dequincy last year I thought was a good team they have a big arm There and several others that will pitch in. Vinton was a surprise last year they started to come on toward end of the year. They looked good in summer ball. Lake Arthur will be ok they will have those few games where you just can't count them out they always will battle. Mamou lost a solid short stop and catcher also a huge arm from lat year but they always bring a solid squad. Welsh lost 6-7 starters from last year but have a stable of young talent this year. They have one senior on the team. This team is young but tons of baseball experience and several college prospects in the next 3 years to come. This district I believe will come Down to kinder, welsh, and Dequincy. Kinder played a tough St. Louis team But also had few injuries I believe and a kid out. Didn't get to watch Dequincy but I know thy will Be solid. Welsh played Rosepine and was up 6-0 going into last two innings also welsh rested zach Hayes pitching arm and chose not to pitch him for scrimmage. Welsh won 6-2 also put up an impressive overall performance. Pitching was solid, no fielding errors and had 9 different players produce hits. Good luck to our district this year. Looking forward to some Nail biters

can we change the title to 4-2A baseball I think 2A as a whole is wide open this year. I believe our district is the same way, with Kinder having the edge for leader of the pack. Dequincy will be solid with a big arm, Mamou lost a stud but will still be at or around the top of the standings. As rvanicor said, Welsh lost a bunch but looked solid at the scrimmage and have one of the top athletes/pitchers in the district. Lake Arthur will be a pretty veteran team that we will some games. We return 7 starters and add a couple newcomers that are much better than what we lost. Should be a great year in 4-2A with some quality baseball being played.

If you said in all of 2A which is the best district I would say district 12-2A is probably the most loaded, but they are all select schools basically playing one another.
On the select side in Division III, I would say Riverside Academy is probably the favorite to win it all, with St. Thomas Aquinas being a close 2nd and the likes of St. Charles Catholic, Menard, OCS and Notre Dame right up there along with them.
Non-Select side I would think Sterlington is probably the favorite with Kinder close by, Dequincy I would put in the mix and watch out for Loreauville to sneak up into the ranks.

Kinder has only had 2 baseball coaches in 26 years. Their both short and they both argued with the umps when they felt they were getting hosed. Find one baseball coach worth a damn that doesn't argue with umpires. They've also combined to win 20 District Titles, 13 Quarterfinal appearances, 7 State Tournaments, 1 State Runner-up, and 2 State Championships to go along with multiple District and State Coach of the Year Awards.

I hear Menard is loaded this year. Aren't the Eagles going to a tournament in Orlando or something like that?

2 coaches in 26 years is impressive no wonder kinder has been so consistent. Those 2 coaches must have thick skin because there are some nuts for parents out in the stands. Those know it all parents ruin a great game for kids. As I watch my son play I try to stand off with my family so I am not around s. I applaud those 2 coaches for their effort, time and sacrifice that they have made to help make this a great game

I applaud those 2 coaches for their effort, time and sacrifice that they have made to help make this a great game The 1st coach was Rick Whittington and he took over in 1990, only our 3rd year of having a baseball program. He took us to the 2A Semi-Finals that year and to the State Championship game in '96. Now 2 of his former players have coached teams to State Championships. Sean Richard at Iowa(2007 3A Champs) and Kenny Courville at Kinder(2014 and 2015 2A Champs).

6-2A will come down to Catholic-NI and Loreauville once again this year.
Jeanerette will be lucky to win more than 3 games this season. Coach is a nice guy but no support and all the few baseball players transfer.
Delcambre will win some games but struggle. They hit the ball well but have no size, strength, or speed. JV only threw junk against Loreauville JV. When they rarely threw a fastball, it was smashed. Umpire was interesting to say the least in that game. He was being taught during the game and didn't even know the strike zone, but we all had fun with it.
West St Mary, haven't seen them at all so far.
Catholic-NI is the favorite to win district. Broc Romero is their spark plug.
Loreauville will push for the district if the pitching is there. Tons of speed and power throughout the lineup. Lots of talent in Sopre & Freshmen classes. This weekends lineup
SR Connor Landry (C) SR Chase Clifton (1B) JR Dale Sonnier (2B) JR Rhette Viator (SS/3B/P) SR Bryson Broussard (SS/P) SR Cameron Broussard (3B/P) FR Caleb Washington (LF) SO Shauwan Nora (CF) SO Jobe Hebert (RF) JR Stevie Bourque (P)
