Since the season is right around the corner, what 5A teams do y'all think have the chance to win state? Obviously Barbe should be everyone's pick and with good reason but what teams do you think can compete with Barbe and possibly take down the 3 time defending state champs?

St.Amant has Enlow and alot coming back. Laf has 3 good pitchers. Acadiana has everyone coming back. Sam Houston has everyone coming back. I've heard Dest has some good arms. Could be very interesting.

If we had our full team, I'd say maybe us, but I think we lost our best pitcher.
We should still win district, but getting a home game in round 1 will be harder and we have less of a chance in a 2/3 series

Barbe is obviously a sure in for making it to the final 8 but I think St. Amant & Denham Springs could shock a few people. I'm also hearing chatter about Sulphur possibly making a run.

Being from St Amant I really like the Gators chances this year. Definitely best team since the 2014 team who lost to Barbe in the semis but I know the coaches and players really believe that they can beat Barbe and that they should have last year. If St Amant can get another pitcher or two, just a pitcher besides Enlow, then this could be a very good team who definitely can beat Barbe in my opinion. This Barbe team is just like last year. Won't score a lot of runs but they have great pitching and they are really good at small ball and winning at the little things. If you prevent them from being able to succeed at small ball and score your runners when they're in scoring position, then you're going to beat them.

No need to look any further than Barbe's own district. If somebody is going to halt this run their on it's going to be a team that knows them the best. The percentages are bound to catch up with them but as long as Glenn Cecchini is the Bucs Skipper, A.M. Barbe will always be one of the best high school baseball programs in the country. With the split on now there will be few teams outside 3-5A, St. Amant being one, that can challenge them for State. But ya never know when a surprise team thats been building towards a season for 2 or 3 years comes out of nowhere and wins it all. Can't wait for baseball season to start.
