Anybody know why the LHSAA has Riverside in Division II in Softball, and Division III in Baseball? Can that be right?

Riverside must have chosen to play up in softball. Below is an excerpt directly from the LHSAA Handbook.
For playoff competition, schools that are classified as select schools shall compete in five divisions. Schools in Class 5A shall compete in Division I; schools in Classes 4A and 3A shall be combined and compete in Division II; schools in Class 2A shall compete in Division III; schools in Class 1A shall be compete in Division IV; and classes B and C shall be combined and compete in Division V. A select school may choose to compete for championship honors in playoff competition in any division higher than stated above. The declaration to compete for championship honors in any higher division is only for the sports of softball and shall only apply to the 2016-17 sport season. The school shall make a written request to play in a higher division in each sport no later than the date of classification meetings set up by the Executive Director.

As I posted about a month ago in another topic/thread(2A Softball down the page), RA has choosen to play in Div II Softball, the LHSAA asked of any schools who would like to play up in division earlier this year and they accepted, the baseball team will stay put and play in Div III.

Thanks for that...I didn't see that part in the handbook and was thinking if they played up in 1 sport they had to play up in all.
I'll get them fixed ASAP.

Ok, so why are they still in District 12-2A?

Ok, so why are they still in District 12-2A? They are still competing for district honors in 12-2A, they would have to redo whole schedule and have to be replace in a new district, by handbook rules they will only play up for state honors in a higher division in postseason play.
