I know in softball there is 15 run rule after 3 Inn, should baseball adopt that rule, 2 games on Tuesday(Mar 21) caught my attention, Menard won 25-0 vs. Rapides, and Covenant Christian won 40-0 vs. Ecole Classique. Both these games would of been called after 3 innings due to 15 run rule if it was in place, not to mention they both have to play them again due to it being district, there is no need to prolong the game and embarrass your opponent more, especially when some teams do not sub and starters have 6-7 at bats. Any Opinions?

A classy coach can figure out how to keep scores from getting out of the teens for sure, or at least 20's.

I don't think there really is a 15 run rule after 3, that's just a hand shake deal between the coaches to get it over quickly. I think those are written as 5 inning games. I may be wrong on that??

We clear the bench at a 15 run differential and only thake bases that we "earn". It's tough to tell the marginal players who are now in the game to take it easy. They are getting their chance to show out. If it is 20+ we will not touch home plate on a score..

I once officiated a high school baseball game that ended 42-0. Winning team didn't run it up. Once the game got to 7-0 they were station to station. Losing team couldn't find the plate and had tons of walks. Game was called in the 2nd inning on a handshake agreement between the coaches. Misreable game that took forever.

There is a 15 run rule after 3 innings in softball and it's not a handshake agreement. There is also the 10 run rule after 5 innings. It's an official rule and is mandatory for all games including regular season tournaments and the State Tournament. There is also a 10 run rule in baseball which applies after 4.5 innings if the home team is ahead or 5 innings if the visiting team is ahead and also applies to all games including playoff games. There is no 15 run rule for baseball and their not suppose to stop the game before 5 innings in order for the game to be considered official. I'm sure coaches can agree to suspend a game if it gets too bad but it's not encouraged. Last year Lake Charles College Prep scheduled a game against nationally ranked St. Thomas More and lost 34-0 and i'm quite sure LCCP knew that would happen when they scheduled it. Below is a link for a good article on the NFHS website about exactly these kind of games. www.nfhs.org/articles/umpiring-the-blowout-game/

15 run rules is definitely needed. Sat through 3 games this week hoping the would end. When a team can't even field a ground ball or catch an easy pop up, it's frustrating for both teams. Of course, it was good to see the other team still having fun when down 25-0 and 27-0 (in 3rd inning) of their doubleheader. Bad thing is that some of these schools get more support from the opposing fans than their school administration.
