Evangel-7 Byrd-0
Eagles don't break a sweat. And only one penalty against Evangel in that opening 66 yard drive. Amazing.

Man, Evangel is truly special this year. Their defense is legitimately on the level of West Monroe's 98' team. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. Anyone who thinks Curtis has a chance is a fool too. Anyone.

If they had an offense that could be nationally good that matched their defense, they would have beaten Allen also.

FINAL SCORE:
Evangel-42 Byrd-0
Could have been worse. Evangel had a bunch of clean uniforms on the field in the fourth quarter.

I would pay good money to see Evangel play University High this year. Same outcome would happen, but still lol.

It's criminal the way officials act at Evangel. 11 penalties to zero in the first half. The only flag thrown by the guys that were on Evangels side of the field was the one where 5'10"" AD Washington dunked over the goalpost after scoring. The guys on the other side of the field were ridiculous! And of course Byrd O-line was so good they didn't get a single penalty for holding. Geez. Can you say rotten officiating......AGAIN!!!!!

On the level on the 98 WM TEAM? anyone who thinks that a defense who allowed Allen to put up 28 points on them in a 28-7 loss is as good as the 98 WM team is a fool!! Anyone!

I didn't say they were a better team, but as good of a defense as the 1998 team. I saw both and both defenses are the best I've seen personally. The 1998 WM Team would beat this Evangel team because of their offense which is better than this Evangel team's offense by a good margin. Consider the fact Evangel has a mediocre offense right now with that defense and imagine if their offense was on par talent wise. Let's say terrace Marshall and Justin Rodgers were on this Evangel team. Yea, you know how that would be nationally. Possibly best team in louisiana history.

Your lack of knowledge of football outside of Louisiana is showing again. I think ECA's defense is probably better than WM's 98 defense. Offense is another story, but defense... Sorry, I gotta say ECA is much stronger. In 1998, West Monroe tossed a lot of shutouts and huge wins, but really, who did they play? I think you're still a little bit sour of ECA dominating Curtis last year. I can't imagine how you'll be if it happens again this year.

And the game was 14-7 Allen headed to the 4th quarter. AS I said, if Evangel had the talents of Rodgers and Marshall on their offense they would be a top 5 team nationally without question. Possibly national champ. That is how good their defense is nationally speaking. That is how good WM defense was in 98 nationally too. I will stand by what I said, that if Evangel had an offense this year that was on par talent wise to their defense they would be the best team to step on a field in Louisiana in high school football quite possibly ever. That isn't as far fetched as it sounds whatsoever.

I try to not count chickens before they hatch, but I do believe ECA is the strongest team in Louisiana this year. They're doing it on the backs of their defense, but they do appear to be THE team to beat.

Karr and Landry-Walker last year were the only two teams offensively that could move the ball against this evangel defense. That is the type talent it would take to have. The only other offense I have seen over the years was the Bastrop offense with Mackey, Randle, and Benton, and East St. John with Ryan Perrilloux years ago. Outside the old Evangel offensive teams these offenses were the best I have seen play. That Bastrop offense was likely the best I will ever see play seeing that they had 2 five star receivers and a 4 star quarterback. It is the equivalent of parkway this year having Rodgers, marshall, and Chase (from Rummel) on one team.

Curtis was the better team and they proved it on the field. I've never denied the better team in any of those years. In fact, the only thing I ever said about Curtis is what I've said all along: From a fan perspective, Curtis is boring football to watch. Unless they're your team. clock control football is boring. But it can work and for Curtis, it often does.
