What has happened at Denham Springs? I thought they had hired the guy to take them to the promise land according to himself. Lost to Zachary & now Walker, who he said they would rebound against. HMMMMMM Maybe drinking Red Bulls & adult beverages & talking about his conquest have not turned into victories for his football team! In my humble opinion...

I am curious as to what your expectations might have been prior to this year. And what those expectations might have been based on.
Last years 3-6 record, in which they didn't win a district game? 2015, when they went 5-5 with only one district win?
Right now, they are 5-3 with 2 district wins, and a good chance for a third against Central.
Sometimes there are problems with a team, and sometimes there are problems with expectations.

Last year was a "turkey shoot" with the floods. I am just saying that the coach from Denham Springs has under performed according to his own lofty aspirations for his team. If you shoot your mouth off then you have to take the hackling that comes with it! In my humble opinion...

While the way that Coach Nettles was pushed out was definitely wrong, Denham doesn’t have the talent to keep up with those other teams mentioned. Translation: they aren’t that good. Goldmond is great but that’s pretty much where it ends. I could be DEAD WRONG, but I’m also not afraid to ask if Conides got that job to make Brennan Comfortable at LSU. I’m not afraid to wonder if that’s the case

Wouldn't it have just been easier to have him hired as an analyst at LSU? That way, he can spend more time with Brennan. Certainly they could pay him as much as DSHS. Then line him up with a high school job when Brennan leaves.

All pure speculation but I mean 1+1 normally = 2 you know? Ousting Nettles the way that was done and going into Mississippi for a coach just all seemed odd. Including the timing. Livingstonnerd may have something he’s heard on it

Well, for whatever reason that guy landed in DS, he is having to eat some humble pie at this point in the season. In my humble opinion...

DS is making strides. They have made some new hires and will pay off in a few years.

Denham is on the opposite side of the parish from me and is the school I am least familiar with. The floods affected all football schools here. Denham had the worst and highest levels of water anywhere.
I will say that the departure of Dru Nettles was a big hit to the school, and while the new coach Conides did give some promise to the community and the players, it has definitely seemed to fizz out by now. As for the Myles Brennan situation: It is strange that, if this was indeed the case, that LSU didn't just hire him. Maybe he wanted to coach himself and saw that Denham was open for business. I have no clue at all.
Either way: Denham's main problem is that their offense IS Tyre Golmond. I've said it all year that if they wanted to succeed later in the season and in district, they'll have to find some other players on offense to compliment Golmond's ability. Ponchatoula exposed that fault early on in Week 2. The defense is average and is good enough to stop opposing drives often, but in close games and in the playoffs they would probably be easily overwhelmed. The offense is more of a one-man act rather than a complete show. Golmond is great, but he can't do it all by himself, especially in 5A football.
From what I understand, the coach was firing up the community because he wanted to get as many boys out onto the field for try-outs. He tried to get as many bodies on the field so he could look for decent talent, because he knew he had very little of it with his returning set of players. It worked in getting boys to try out, but Denham Springs is not at the level where they are producing decent players very often. Livingston Parish has never been know for consistently producing football talent. They had Caleb Roddy a couple of years back and now they have Tyre Golmond. Other than them, DSHS hasn't produced a lot in the past 15 years.
The area within Denham's school district is exploding with population despite last year's flood and the school will only grow larger. It will take a few years for natural football talent to rise up through grade-school and into high school. Denham will surely have some great years ahead of them, they will just have to wait and see how many of these new kids on the block end up taking interest in football. Right now though, Walker Freshman High and Walker Middle are looking to have the best players over the next few years go into high school, so if there was any school around here that I would expect anything out of, it would be Walker.

Thanks LivingstonNerd for the synopsis of the issue. Yes, what they did to Dru was pretty upsetting to a lot of people after that flood. That new coach was fizz when he came in & he has gone flat because you cannot be one dimensional & expect to play with the teams in that district. Remember they get paid to coach also & have quickly defused the Conides machine at DS. Just goes to show that we have good coaches in Louisiana too & that it takes great players to help make great coaches! In my humble opinion...
