Third meeting with these 2 teams in the playoffs since 2006. As big a district rivalry as this is we don't really more incentive to make this a big matchup r very year but I'm always happy to play Welsh. Welsh has always had a solid program. What I find incredible is how cleanly this game is always played only 20 miles of Louisiana back roads separating these 2 schools and a lot of these kids play or have played travel ball together. I hate that it's a select few fans that make this game dirty because that is never reflected on the field. Earlier in the season after the game one of the Welsh fans ran in the middle of the Kinder huddle at midfield hollering and kind of running it in. I know this aint the Welsh fan base as a whole I have spoke with a few and they are very respectful. My thoughts on the game: Welsh is more talented and the better looking team I think we are a little better coached in my opinion. Welsh also has better experience. We will have to clean up mistakes from the last matchup and not give up. We could have easily done so last night but I think we grew up. Senioor leadership took over for us and Trent Johnson connecting with Jordan Cordova gave us life after that Trent, Jordan, Hayden Thomas, and Joey McNeeley pretty much took over the game. We will need the same effort from those 4 senior leaders in order to beat the Greyhounds and I know we will get the best effort from them for 4 quarters. As far as who I think will win? I ain't gunna put my money down on it. Not sure Welsh has better experience, cause our seniors, when they were sophmores, started in the dome against mangham, played in way tighter games against tougher competition all year long, has come back from behind and scored 28 points against the #8 team in 2a, and played the toughest schedule in 2a except RIVERSIDE. I'd say our boys are as seasoned as a 2a team can get. We also have 11 seniors and most have been playing since they were sopres. Welsh has my respect but our boys have been to the dance and won. Thanks vanicor for the great review and gate time.

But you are right out seniors have been in more bug games

I usually lurk and never post, but I'm gonna weigh in on this recruiting debate. Both my wife and I went to public school but are in a better financial position than our parents and decided to give our kids a chance at a better education than we had and decided to send them to a private school. Did that have anything to do with ND football? I can say no because they went to private school for 9 years before they got to high school. So on to the debate, does ND recruit? I can answer that question with an emphatic yes! They recruit the kids in their school to play sports there. They have 150 boys and 100 play football. Are they all talented football prodigies? Come on man. They are blue collar hard working kids that give up their entire summers to workout at 5:30 am every morning. They get kids to buy into the system that if you work, you will be rewarded. They hardly ever start kids until their senior year because they have 2 or 3 kids in front of them at the same position. So if you want to compete with ND, get in the halls at school and talk to boys. Every 2A school has at least 150 boys there. Get them into the gym and give them a plan for success. Line up the 22 hardest working kids you have, not the 6 or 7 most talented and give it a shot. Until then, please quit whining that we recruit kids from all over the area that never start until their senior year. Never said that you guys recruit anyone. I have no issues with your program. Just pointing out that if it's advantage that Kinder and Welsh can get players from schools within their parishes that don't offer certain sports and that is considered an advantage, then what would you consider being able to draw from a regional footprint with nearly a quarter of a million people? You really have to throw logic out the window if you deny the difference. Yes so Elton, Lake Arthur, Jennings, Welsh, Oberlin, Oakdale.......in those parishes.

Not sure I’m following you there bud? Yes Kinder and Welsh can get kids for football from none football schools in the parish.....but so can the other schools in the parish. Very true. I don’t know of any 1A-3A public schools that do not have nearby schools that do not offer either football or baseball, therefore draw students looking to participate in sports that thier “home school” didn’t offer.

Off the subject but I was watching the game film to Welsh vs Independence......Independence's O-line was massive. Those boys looked like a 4A size line.

Rvanicor would know more about it than me. I don't agree with any of that if true.

I don’t know all of the facts behind all of this, but I have a hard time believing that Welsh would sit back and take it while an all-American player breaks rules to transfer to a neighboring school. Maybe I’m just a skeptic, but it’s not really adding up.

Mom lives in welsh. Dad lives in Jennings. Not sure about why he went there. He went n junior high to Jennings I know his dad wanted him to play in Jennings. I would ask school superintendent and Jennings principle back from that day. Now it would not be allowed. Everyone around this parish knew what he would end up Being a dominate player. I would have loved to sit in on that discussion. I am really proud of Travis he is a great athlete , great young man. Hopefully will watch him on Sunday's.

Back to welsh vs kinder. We will be pitching a tent for Hardcore tailgaters in The field north of endzone starting Tuesday night. Showering is available by Waterhose and dawn detergent but $5 fee is required , gumbo is $5, parking is $5, welsh spirit towel $5, all money is go to decal stickers mailed to King boo to replace all that Ferriday knocked off.

Hard to argue that you guys wouldn’t have won it all last year with him in your backfield. Elton says the same thing about not having Trent Johnson Wow. You really will say anything, won’t you? If there is anyone in Elton who thinks that there is any one single player on Kinder’s team that would put them over the top to win a state championship, they are beyond delusional. Think for a second about how rediculous that sounds. Etienne is a generational talent. No offense to Trent Johnson or Elton, but that is a rediculous comparison, but that is what’s expected of you.

I see you’re back to reaching and grasping at anything to prove your point. So you saying he didn’t help Kinder? No, can you read? I said he nor anyone else from Kinder (or any player to EVER play for Kinder in the history of the program) would not have lead Elton to a state championship this year. Your comment that people in Elton think They would have won it all with Trent Johnson on the team is, as usual, beyond rediculous.
