We been talking about 2A and D3 baseball so lets talk some softball now. Should be very tough again. All of the top teams in 2A are back except for Sterlington but Winnfield, who has been a top softball program for many years, drops down to take their place. There is a bit more turnover in Division III. D3 loses St. Charles, Opelousas Catholic, and Archbishop Hannan from last years Quarterfinals. Also, last year Riverside elected to compete in Division II where they were State Runner-up and i haven't heard if their going to stay there or come back to D3. If Riverside comes back they could fill the void left by the departing teams. If not its probably Calvary, Menard, and Notre Dame as the favorites. On the other hand 2A seems a bit more open. Any of the Quarterfinal teams from last year could be there again or there could be some teams emerge from the earlier rounds. Not sure what any of these teams have coming back but i would bet on the State Tournament having a different look. Don't know how many softball fans there are on here but what ya'll think about 2A and Division III this year ?

Haven’t seen our team except for a scrimmage against 4A Westgate who we handled pretty easily. Same as our baseball team, it depends on how our pitching develops. Last years ace was a senior and we are depending on an incoming freshman and returning sopre in the circle. Played Westgate again in the Jamboree and beat them 11-4. We start with 4A St Martinville and 1A Centerville this week with the Eunice tournament this weekend.

In 2A Mangham is the defending champion and is the team to beat. They return a lot. Kinder will have another big year making a run at the title. Kinder lost some big bats, but it does look like they have kids stepping up.

Good start for Lady Jackets. Kinder defeats Oberlin 13-0 to start the season. Oberlin's really young this year. Two 7th graders, and majority freshmen and sopres that all start. From what I heard tonight between this group of girl's talent and the coaching skills from their head coach, there's no reason Oberlin High SB won't be a great threat in the next couple of years. Best of luck to these little Tigers💜💜

I don't know who pitched tonight for Oberlin. Are you talking about one of the twin 7th graders? Or their Junior pitcher? Both of the twins pitch, but one of them can fling a fast ball faster than anyone on the team.

Unfortunately it was a hard line drive straight into her own dugout and she managed to cremate one of her own players!!

You have to able to hit the corners and put movement on the ball.

Yes I got what you were saying after I posted. It's early! I'm typing with one eye open still!🙃 I was just texting the player I know from there and she said exactly what you said. A couple of their pitchers had some nice speed but it didn't matter if they didn't learn to hit their spots.

What is tough about softball pitching is it takes a parent to start developing their child into a pitcher starting around 9 or 10 years old. I have no boys, put did have a daughter that pitched. Softball pitching is a 12 month job. My daughter took lessons up to the her last day she pitched. If you wait on a high school coach to develop the pitcher it just does not happen. Every good softball pitcher there has been a parent in the background that got them the lessons they needed.

Every good softball pitcher there has been a parent in the background that got them the lessons they needed. [ I guarantee that's exactly what my sis in law would say. She was a heck of a pitcher in high school. But being that good came with a huge price. She pitched 365 days a years she played softball until she finally layed her glove down when they lost out in the semi-finals her senior year. I asked her before where she played when she wasn't on the mound? She said "I was a pitcher. I pitched. That's all I did. Even slightly focusing on anything else was out of the question." SB pitching is obviously not for the weak! Btw beginning to be a believer in your softball games being quick. We played from 5:55 to 9:26 last night and that was finishing in the top of the 7th😴😴 Still typing with one eye open!

Darbonne Woods only lost one senior last year and made a quarterfinals appearance in Sulphur, knocked off by LaSalle. They should make another deep run this year as well. Only have 2 seniors this year. These group of girls have something special.

Loreauville played a double header against Jeanerette and it was painful. It actually hurts us to play some of teams in our district. We had to run off the bases early on purpose just to give them outs so the games would end. In both games total (5 innings on defense), Jeanerette recorded only 4 outs and 2 were calls the ump gave to them.
Game 1: Jeanerette 0 - Loreauville 17 Game 2: Loreavuille 18 - Jeanerette 0

They have some great talent and a great Coach, but a lot of little mistakes need to be fixed.
