I checked and compared 1A schedules and came up with my own public and select top 5. It wasn't easy because 1A is weak, some teams haven't even played a game yet, and some could be short on players because of basketball.

I was able to watch Vermillion Catholic this past weekend, if they don’t have a few kids in basketball they won’t be as good as they were. Just my opinion.

I would be inclined to agree with you, Baseballdad, Vermillion Catholic does not appear to be as strong as usual, based on their one-hit 13-0 shutout loss to Houma Christian this past Saturday afternoon. I suspect that had it not been for a persistent 15-20 m.p.h. wind blowing in from centerfield, it might have been worse-maybe even much worse. You see, Houma Christian is a powerful, senior-laden team that is currently 5-0 with 6 homeruns from 4 different players, along with more than a handful of triples & doubles to start off this young 2018 season. They have gotten clutch pitching to go along with their excellent hitting & their fielding has been as expected for this early in the season & will only get better as the season progresses. I'm sure the second-ranked Warriors are hoping to get back to Sulphur to make amends for their loss last year at the hands of eventual State Champion Ascension Episcopal in the State Semifinal round. I for one am pulling for them to do just that & would not want to bet against that happening. It certainly will be fun watching this 2018 season unfold. My prayer would be for all participants, both on & off the field to exercise restraint & always display good sportsmanship.

Been hearing a lot about this H.C. team. They are pretty good and that pitcher on the mound looks like a stud. Small team in height but look pretty strong. I was impressed with a couple hitters on that team. Not familiar with anyone on that team as to college recruits except for the SS headed to LSU.

This isn’t my top 5. I got the top5 from the Louisiana preps site. And at the time they weren’t up there.

I think it will be a different game tomorrow when Asc Chr throw's their ace at St. John.

This new playoff format will be pretty interesting with best 2 out of 3
