All you need to know about St. Edmund is that if St. John takes them lightly they will lose. But given that this is a 2 out of 3 round i don't see that happening.

Covenant Christian took Game 2 by a score of 5-1 to even the Series at one game each. Game 3 of the Series is set for 6:00 P.M. this evening. Should be quite interesting-especially in regards to available quality pitching for either team. So the experiment with best of three game series in Division IV begins. Incidentally, I'm going with Covenant Christian over Central Catholic by a score of 8-6 as both teams' batters take advantage of somewhat suspect pitching in Game 3. What are your thoughts?

I feel CCA will take game 3. I think they have the better hitters, and ton of speed for small ball. Whoever wins will have their hands full with St. John in the next round.

I agree wholeheartedly. With that having been said, I do believe that CCA has rebounded just slightly better than CC has in what has been a major rebuilding season for both teams. That's the opposite to the way that I felt going into this best of three series.

Like I said. Whoever wins has their hands full with St. John. The same goes for HC, Opelousas Cath, and Vermillion Cath. Which I think Opelousas comes out on top in the top half the bracket.

If Houma Christian can get more consistent pitching down the stretch from someone other than Brock Theriot they have the team to take it all. At the present time, that's a big if.

Even with Their Ace pitcher, and LSU commit I don’t think it’s enough depth to compete in best of 3 series. I feel like they have enough depth overall-even at the pitcher position, they just need more consistency on the mound. If they can get that consistency from their #2, #3, & #4 pitchers they will be very hard to beat. If they don't get the consistency needed, then they very possibly may fall short of claiming the State Title that should be within their grasp this year after falling in the semifinals last year to the eventual State Champions-Ascension Episcopal, who have since moved up to Class2A/Div.III. I mean, they have eight senior starters-seven of which started in last year's semifinal. They will not be in awe of anyone, even Opelousas Catholic & Ouachita Christian, both of which moved down from Class 2A/Div.III. They beat St. John in Plaquemine in the first round of the playoffs last year in what was their shortsop Gavin Dugas' first game back from a groin injury that had him sidelined for nearly two months. They lost in a 3-2 heartbreaker to St. John in this year's Central Catholic Tournament which was played a week after Dugas suffered a serious injury to his non-throwing hand in a game played against Westgate in the Hanson Memorial Tournament. The Warriors have a very powerful lineup & all that is needed is the consistency of the entire pitching staff that has been suspect at times during this season & I believe that they will rise to the occasion.

I don't believe that Opelousas Catholic has nearly as strong of a team as the team that lost last season in the Division III Semifinals to eventual champion Riverside Academy. Houma Christian, on the other hand, has eight senior starters-seven of which started in last year's Division IV Semifinals to eventual champion Ascension Episcopal. We will have a better idea who the TRUE contenders are at the conclusion of Saturday's games.

However its 2 of 3 so its not over. St. Augustine beat Rummel 21 -1 yesterday but today Rummel beat them 10-0. Baseball is funny like that.

Catholic Pointe Coupee has 2 signees on their team.
One for Southeastern and Mason Barker for Nicholls. They won last night. I hope they pull off the win today against Cedar Creek. They are a pretty good team. They tied St John, number one team 11-11 and lost to them 3-2.
The 11-11 game was a tie because they played at a field with no lights and it got dark. Barker hit a grand slam in that game and had 6 RBI's.
