The Class 5A Tournament looks like the 3-5A Invitational with Central BR being the lone outsider. Central is the Defending Champ and just knocked off #1 Zachary so they fit right in with the other teams but they are the lowest seed and didn't sweep either of their Series so their my Darkhorse team. Central BR over Sam Houston
The Class 4A bracket has been the Looney Toons Show except the Coyote caught the Roadrunner and Elmer Fudd finally "killed the Wabbit". Westgate is probably not only the lowest seed to ever make the Semi Finals but gotta have the worst record ever at 16-22. Benton eliminated #1 Breaux Bridge and can't be overlooked. DeRidder is the highest remaining seed at #3. DeRidder over Benton
Aside from a couple of results that could barely be considered upsets the Class 3A bracket played out by the numbers with the Top 4 seeds all making to Sulphur. Sterlington has the Championship experience after winning 2A last year but Berwick has been the hottest team, winning all but 1 of their games by mercy rule. Iota is the new blood and took out Defending Champ S. Beau. Brusly is a regular and has yet to drop a single game in the playoffs. Brusly over Berwick
The only real upset in Class 2A would be #10 Lakeside beating #2 Many in the Quarterfinals. #1 Kinder,#5 Loreauville, and #3 Welsh swept their way to Sulphur while Lakeside only dropped 1 game. I expect very tight games in the Semi Finals and Championship, unlike last year when Sterlington just crushed everybody. Kinder over Welsh
In Class 1A i'd say Grand Lake is far and away the favorite. The Hornets were State Runner-up last year and this year their up against a group of newbies. Merryville had 2 close losses against Grand Lake in District and surprised #3 Oak Grove in the Quarterfinals. I never even heard of Delta Charter until this year but they did knock off Defending Champ LaSalle. Kentwood made it to the Semis in just their program's 3rd year after crushing Logansport in the Quarterfinals. Grand Lake over Delta Charter
Class B looks like a tough bracket as all 4 teams won over 70% of their games. #1 Oak Hill swept Grace Christian in District and Choudrant is the Defending Champ. Zwolle is averaging 10 runs per game in the playoffs while Pitkin has averaged 9 per game allowing only 1 run in 2 games. Oak Hill over Pitkin
Class C played out by the numbers and i think it will in the Semis as well. Simpson over Harrisonburg

In Division I John Curtis and Catholic BR should make the Championship Game again. Catholic BR over John Curtis
Division II is different from the other Divisions as it is a combination of 4A and 3A Selects. But i see St. Thomas More and Parkview advancing to the Championship Game. Parkview Baptist over St. Thomas More
Division III has played out like i thought it would so i see no need to change the predictions i made in the D3 thread. Notre Dame over Dunham
Division IV has Traditional Powers St. John, Ouachita Christian, and Ascension Catholic joining Houma Christian to form a tough Championship Tournament. St. John over Ascension Catholic
Division V has 2017 D-V Champ Grace Christian, 2016 Class C Champ Claiborne Christian, and 2014 Class C Champ Northside Christian. On the surface, Grace Christian looks to be the favorite. However, Northside Christian has won 7 straight games which includes wins over St. Thomas More and Westgate, if u can believe that little nugget of information. Claiborne Christian has been to 6 straight Championship Games. Northside Christian over Grace Christian

That’s a division I pay close attention to. I had Opelousas Cath vs Ouachita Christian at the beginning of the year but looks like HC took care of that. I think Ascension Cath is playing some serious ball right now. They are a scary team. I’m going HC over St. John just because both teams have the same lineup as last year and HC won that 1. Even though St. John beat them 3-2 this year from what I heard, HC pitched there #3 guy because it was during tournament play. We shall see though. Good games all around. |

St. John played in a tougher District and Houma ended up in a 3 way tie. Just a feeling when i look at the bracket. |

Between getting myself worked up and being ridiculously superstitious, I'm absolutely positive my friends and family will make me sit by myself at this game. They wouldn't hurt my feelings thou. Wow I don't know if I can handle a game like that tomorrow. Just dropped the kid off. The Jackets are rolling out shortly and staying in Lake Charles tonight |
