4A state champion will be Edna Karr and it won’t be close. 5A state champion will be Zachary and I don’t think that one will be that close either. Division II will be U High and they are going to destroy everybody on their schedule. Division I will be interesting because John Curtis Evangel and Catholic all should reload. I’m going with Catholic to repeat.

Likely the best offense in public school domain in all of america. Here is their offense: John Emery now a 5* tailback and #2 in the nation at the position. Kyle Edwards is the backup to Emery and is only a 4* for 2020 lol. Quinton Torbor is a 4* receiver committed to Moo St. Quincy Brown is a 5* star receiver for 2020 or 2021. Harold Blood Jr 3* QB. If their offensive line can hold up this season--laat year they were young--they should be unreal. Defensively they came along at the end of the season as they were young and inexperienced. They were very good at the end of the year. Destrehan vs Zachary should be an all-time classic. Also Zachary and University will play along with Zachary and Catholic. Hell there may be a round robin where catholic plays university too and i believe they will. Amazing non-district matchups.

Destrehan is going to be absolutely loaded and I know a little bit about their weapons. I really hope LSU can get Emery in purple and gold. It should be an amazing game. I just think as long as Brew is at Zachary they are there to stay as a power in 5A. Brown at the qb spot is as good as they come. Kid is a natural leader and controls the game better than most I’ve seen in high school. U High is the best team in the state regardless of classification. They run through both Zachary and Catholic but I think Zachary avenges last years loss to the Bears.

After seeing University play a few times this past season, I do believe the 2018-2019 version of the Cubs could be classified as one of the best teams to play football in Louisiana. (Staying healthy of course)

Who will win state in private/public in 4a and 5a? You can't say who's winning it all especially before the season has even started. You got to factor in injuries, and who's having a down year. Who are the new rising players. Plus it is always a Cinderella that comes out of nowhere. I know we're ready for some football, but lets watch the kids develop. You cant make this year decision off of last years film.

It’s why the forum exist, if you want only facts then read the scores after the games. Geez

Can’t think of any off the top of my head. Maybe Walker?? Maybe. The top 1-2 teams in the upper classes are just so strong with HWS guys and depth it’ll be hard to see it change. They aren’t dependent on just one thing. Maybe Easton, God forbid something happens to QB 12 that would be huge but the others have so much depth at so many positions

(Staying healthy of course) It's been a few years since I've seen U-High play. I know a little bit about Christian Harris from his dad's FB posts. Do they stack up favorably against the John Curtis team that won the national title, and/or the West Monroe and Evangel Christian teams from several years back?

UHigh starters can play with anyone in the state. In the nation, doubtful and they don’t have the depth especially up front for your best. But I believe that could go down as one of the better teams the states seen in the last 10-20 years. BTW, Mr Harris is a great guy!

I have a buddy who knows football come to our jamboree Thursday we had STM, Acadiana, TC, Cecelia, ND, Carencro then he watched U High Friday and doubted that hardly any of the starters on the 6 teams that played Thursday would start for U High. That’s impressive

I watched those Evangel and WM teams back in the 90's and early 2000's. That Acadiana team in 2010 and WM team in 2009 that ended the season ranked #3 in the nation.
What MT mentioned is your answer--depth. Depth along the Offensive and Defensive lines.
If they had more depth up front on both sides my answer would be emphatically a yes, it is one of the best ever in our state.
They would match up with any of these teams i listed above.

That’s impressive I tend to agree. I mean Holstein vs McKernan is splitting hairs. Perry from TC to anchor one side of the OL with Rathcke on the other is an upgrade. Outside of that maybe a few...that’s no knock on those teams moreso just saying that they are that talented

I'll be able to give more insight after the game Friday.

I think that he was just joking or hallucinating.I like the D2 pick though. I feel like Westgate has the best receiving corps in the state, plus they have a stud RB in Tyreese Jackson. The skill players are outstanding. It's hard to get a real grasp on things from watching a scrimmage, so I'll be able to say more about them after Friday.

The kids at the skill positions show talent but what’s stands out is mostly the speed. Not enough to make a deep run. I’ll eat crow if incorrect

I only watched one game last year (Catholic NI/St. Louis) so I can hardly give any insight about state title contenders.

Loaded is being kind.

Last season their defense got really good there at the end. Came on real strong.
They return a lot of skill in the backend.
The junior Noah at DE is a D1 talent.
Who and how do you stop their offense? Serious question. When you have two receivers who can go deep and Torbor has gained some serious mass and quickness i saw, along with two tailbacks who can go the distance at any point in time, you are FREAKED. Well, unless they freak themselves of course.

Can you run any man with their speed at receiver (and size for that matter)?

Zachary has the ability to run with them for sure. West Monroe would bet on pressure up front. A sleeper in 5a that could is east Ascension
