I used to follow this 5A district really close back when I was in school but over these last few years I chalked it up as Acadiana's district championship to lose every year. But seeing both on the news and on this forum Sulphur is expected to be a force this year. Lots of talent.
Is this the year that they trake the district trophy? Also do y'all think Wainwright can lead this team to the dome? He has had some success both at Kinder and Sulphur but if memory serves me correctly he has only made the quarterfinals once beating Redemptorist and Newman along the way and losing to Curtis. He was my head coach in school I'd love to see him finally punch that ticket. He gets a bad wrap in Kinder but i always had respect for the man.

Sulphur will be explosive on Offense. Not sure they have the defense to make a dome run. As for Coach Wainwright, not sure why he isn’t liked in Kinder...he’s a awesome coach and a likeable guy. Having watched Kinder play for a while now, I firmly believe the best team Kinder had was the one with Blake Trahan playing QB that lost to Curtis in the Quarterfinals. In a split setting, I believe Jeff would’ve won a championship that season.

I agree with you this generation had the better running back in Taylor Johnson and I think the defense was better.but the offense of 2011 as a whole wwas way better IMO. Wainwright gets a bad wrap in Kinder because he has a slightly different coaching style and while he is.a little unorthodox with his system behind the scenes it is effective. A lot got used to those years where we were running the spread and wanted to see A lot of passing but we didn't have a QB like Kingrey Justin Reed or Jordan Allen let alone the receivers we had in those days. Blake Trahan could have had that potential but the athlete he was made him born to run the triple option. He adjusted with the personnel he had he actually ran out the I for two seasons before landing on the wing t and we still use it now and it has been effective.

I think the last time they won was back in 2007 or 2008. The finish was Sulphur, STM then Acadiana and Barbe.

Jeff is a good coach. Look at Kinder and the way he left that program. He left and Kinder won a state title, not once but twice. He STEADILY built that program up again. He's doing the same thing at Sulphur, and most of those Sulphur people are impatient and want an instaChamp - Thats not Jeff. But for the most part I think they all like him.
Sulphur was mediocre with 4-6 and 5-5 records for about 4 years until he came on board and has brought the program back. I believe Paulk is doing the same at Sam Houston. Not sure when Cutrera will retire - but I hear it may be soon since he was seen in Baton Rouge putting in for his retirement (not but for 3 more years) I think DeMarie will take over there. Shoot theyre all good buddies and just got back from San Diego 2 weeks ago!

No they won the district (tied with) the last 2 years (2016 and 2017) with Acadiana and Barbe. They have a chance to make it three in a row if they clinch all their own

He also has Justin Reed on staff over there he was an all state qb for Wainwright at Kinder and I believe he is the offensive coordinator currently great guy and I'm sure a great coach haven't seen that side of him personally.

Barbe knows how to take care of its coaches financially. He is still relatively young and could no doubt easily put another 10-12 years in on the sideline.

Cutrera is in his early to mid 50s but he's been doing this for years. He is a darn good coach and one that flys under the radar much like Wainwright.

I would guess he gets his props in local parish radar. Probably less in a SWLA la radar. On a state wide radar you have got to win big and often or commit a crime to get attention. Just the nature of the beast.

Mike may fly “under the radar” for those whose world doesn’t exist outside of high school football, but he has turned down several college jobs, including assistant positions at McNeese, ULL, and ULM. He’s certainly not flying under anyone in the know’s “radar”.

Think Sulphuric has a really good year and leads a charge of some 5a power coming back to SWLA. SWLA from all I’ve read is trending up economically. Usually when that happens you see an upward trend in sports too

Yes, there is an ap for spelling, but not one for grammar. Which is why your daily insults and childish behavior on this board are also reflective of your inability to grasp the most basic elements of the English language. Do is all a favor and stock to what you know, which is Notre Dame High School football. Every time you “expand past your zone”, you’re lack of knowledge and sheer ignorance is on display for thee world to see.
