The amazing Lafayette High Lions Star might be the best athlete in the State of Louisiana, regardless of sport. In the spring he ran the 100m Dash at a meet just to give it a try and won it with a time of 10.60 seconds. In the 1-5A Regional he ran an even faster 10.57 to win the 100 meter Dash in addition to winning the Pole Vault. Mondo will be following his brother to LSU.

I read he turned down the option of 3 attempts.

I certainly wouldn’t argue against that statement. He may be one of the best athletes to EVER come out of the state of Louisiana. To be one of the best in the world as a high school athlete is almost unheard of. He is a favorite to set a new world record before it’s all said and done. I’m trying to remember, but off the top of my head, I can’t recall anyone from Louisiana holding a true track and field world record. Hollis Conway and Rodney Milburn were close a time or two, but never did. Would be a great day for the state of Louisiana if it ever happened.

That young man is worth the price of admission alone.

I read he turned down the option of 3 attempts. He attempted 19-9 but couldn't clear it. But neither could World Record Holder Renaud Lavillenie. Lavillenie and the legendary Sergey Bubka are the only men to ever hit the 20 ft mark. Bubka was the first to do it in 1991 and went over 20 ft four times. Bubka has the outdoor record(20 ft 1 & 1/2 in) and Lavillenie has the indoor/overall record(20 ft 2 & 1/2 in).

I might have misread it

I read 4 articles back to back on him and got off track. The rest of that post is accurate. I use to get air sick watching Bubka. He doesn't have the overall record anymore but he's still the best vaulter ever. I'm sure Mondo will pass him in time though.
