I realize it’s a crap shoot at this point, but with only one game played and Country Day beating Amite, shouldn’t they at least be ranked higher this week?

They should be ranked over Amite not sure how you justify that ranking. Also they are almost certainty better than rosepine. Sterlington remaining 2 after struggling with West ouachita and still getting a 1st place vote is weird. Not saying they should have dropped out completely but i was thinking they would drop to like 7-8. Union beat 5-a Airline and can't crack the top ten. After what we have seen so far Union seems like they very well might be the best 3-A team in northeast LA. West St. John lost to a good team but a beat down like that should drop them at least out of the top 5. I'd put OCS in over St. Mary's also.

I got a feeing Calvary is probably a top ten team in 2-A. I wouldn't punish them much for losing to an above average 5-A team

Did everyone forget that Ruston even exists??? so Ruston kick the living crap out of Neville and they can't make the top 16 teams in their class. Interesting

Looks like a cut and paste error.

Man, when was the last time Neville was out of the top 10. Seems like a couple of years ago, they were the best team regardless of class in the state.

These polls do not mean anything but why not just wait until after week 1 to put them out. That would avoid the Amite/Country Day issue.

But then why are we talking about them. Because even though they don't determine a Championship or even playoff seedings, they do create interest and get people talking. Also gives players and fans a thrill to see their teams in there. These Rankings have been around for a very long time and still generate buzz. So they'll keep em coming.

Oh I'm sure they will keep coming and my critique will have little impact but I think they could make them better by waiting a couple of weeks before putting them out. Give them more credence.

I’m fine with rankings. Yes they serve the purpose of keeping the people talking but also a gauge of expectations.
The only thing I am not a fan of is the lack of research being placed into some votes and the bias into others. Of course it’s difficult or impossible to see every team, it is not difficult to have a group slack or email chain discussions teams and making justifiable votes

How does Bastrop beat a very good Carver team and only get 2 votes?

Ans, how does Ferriday lose by 1 to Ash and not get a single vote?

Ans, how does Ferriday lose by 1 to Ash and not get a single vote? even though we shouldn’t have lost we had starters dropping like flies but that’s the risk you take playing 5a schools hopefully the starting qb will be back soon but I don’t think it’s a 2a school that can beat Ferriday but I guarantee they gone respect us sooner than later!

So are you saying that there is not a team in 2A that can beat Ferriday even if you don’t have your staring QB or that no team can beat Ferriday provided your starting QB is playing. I’m unclear so help me understand. So have you seen ND, Many, or Welsh play and you believe that, after accessing any are all of those teams, you have concluded that they are not capable of beating Ferriday? I hate for any player to be injured so I really hope that your players that are injured get well and have no problems. But I have seen Many and Welsh live and ND is always top notch, so I will save my opinion until I see Ferriday live. But if you have superior coaching, game planning, and athletes to any of those 3 teams then y’all should raise the price of your tickets because they are something else. If y’all meet Many in the play offs I’ll pay double the price of the ticket because it will be worth it to chat with you on this web site afterwards, if you will show! I respect a team that knows how to accept defeat with humility!!!

And by “no one” you are including Many, Welsh, ND, Kinder, Amite, etc correct? You do realize that high school football is not street football, i.e. it is the complete program package that starts at the top of the chain, coaching. A team with average coaching will have a few good seasons when talent is good and then not so good season when talent declines. Above average coaches develop the talent available and go deep into the playoffs season after season. The Many coaching staff has mastered developing talent and have proven their abilities by season after season of successful playoff runs. Conditioning of the athlete mentally as well as physically is key and I will put Many’s Coach Hassell up against any, he is excellent with the kids and has a way of getting the best out of every player. He is s good man and I am thankful he is on Coach Curtis staff. There’s game to game planning and preparation, so many things that maximize the performance of the athlete on the field before athletic ability even plays a role. I believe football is a game of mental process and that academically excellent students handle the challenges of the game better. Thanks to the acamedic achievements that Mr Booker and his staff strive for, there will be an impressive amount of academic all states on Many’s squad this season and a whole lot of honor students. But not to be little size and athleticism, Many has plenty. I believe Many is the complete program package. Now on a different note, congratulations for sending 2 good athletes to the LSU Tigers. I see that they both made the roster and from that standpoint I look forward to watching them play over the next few years.

The divide between LSWA Polls and Ken Trahan's Poll is like Night and Day difference.
In 5A the LSWA has EA at 5: KT has them at 16; LSWA has Ouachita absolutely nowhere: KT has them at 9.
Yikes. Something has to give. Lol.
