Do people still think Evangel is not that good this year? I do not understand why the people in the area still have us ranked below schools in the Shreveport-Bossier area! They beat Parkway and Haughton which were both undefeated until they got on the field with Evangel. Haughton has a very good time this year. No one in the area will beat them besides Evangel. I look for them to do good in the playoffs. I think it is time to give Evangel a little credit on their hard work and great coaching. If you are going to pick a player of the week then look at the stats on the player and who they played. Evangels running back Sloan, ran up and down the field against Parkway and Haughton. His stats were unmatched by anyone in the area. Let's see if he gets any recognition this week!

His stats were unmatched by anyone in the area. Let's see if he gets any recognition this week! The "problem" (if you want to call it that) is that people in the area are pretty ignorant regarding high school football. They tend to strictly look at wins and losses. If Parkway were to start the season with 3 wins against bottom scraping 1A teams and ECA lost 3 games to Mater Dei, Bishop Gorman, and IMG... People in the area would still say and believe that Parkway is better. Even when the 2 play and ECA rolls Parkway, people will consider that win a fluke and feel like Parkway is better simply because they have more wins. That's option A; ingorance. Option B is that people in the area hate Evangel so much that they'll overlook anything Evangel does as a means of taking shots at them. I have seen years where Evangel was the only team in the area winning games and they hit the playoff and as far as Shreveport is concerned, football season is over and nobody local is playing. When "our team" (my sons team) got knocked out in the 2nd round last year, we picked another local school that was still playing and went to their playoff games and cheered for them. When the last team in our area was standing (Lake Travis), we were rooting for them. We did not go to the championship game they were in (because it was in Dallas), but we did purchase a subscription and watch it online. Last year, after our season came to an end, there were several local teams still in the hunt. One saturday, we hit 2 games that featured 3 local teams (2 playing each other). I realize that not everybody is just that much of a fan of the game and I don't expect everybody to be. I mean, I love football and I'll watch almost anybody play. But still, the level of people not giving a rip in Shreveport is pretty disappointing. When we still lived over there, if ECA wasn't playing, I regularly went and watched other teams play and even cheered for them. Mostly, I think the people in the Shreveport area hate ECA so much that they always want ECA to do bad. I'll be the first to admit that early on (this season) I was skeptical of ECA. I underestimated them. In doing so, I also underestimated the teams they'd played (and lost to) and overestimated 1-5A. And that's not meant as a slight against anyone in 1-5A.

There was a time when a few Shreveport people would come to Evangel games, but they only wanted to see Evangel get beat. The game against Rockhurst Kansas City at Independence Stadium comes to mind as an embarrassment to the city of Shreveport. Shreveport had a chance to see two nationally ranked teams playing on a Saturday afternoon when no one else was playing, yet the jealous Shreveporters stayed away.
If Evangel's offense was still playing like they did in week one, they may well still be winless. That was a game Evangel should have been able to win. In weeks two and three Evangel was just up against much bigger, deeper, and better teams.
The last two weeks the offense has been a pleasure to watch, and really look better than they have in last few years. They are still wasting their timeouts because they can't seem to get the right personnel on the field, but at least now they seem to be able to overcome those mistakes. It is a shame that Chatman is so valuable on defense, because I think he might be the best running back in the state. He is bigger, faster, and I think, more agile than Jacob Hester. It is also a shame he is going to SMU.

As I said before, evangel will be in the semis no less be Catholic or Curtis. They are a solid team and 5a isn’t overly strong, especially Division I. It’s 3 teams, evangel Curtis and Catholic. Whoever gets on the other side from the other two can reserve rooms in New Orleans soon as the brackets out.

Yeah I thought they might be vulnerable for a change but nope they aren't. I'm not a hater but would like to see the District more competitive so my comments have been more wishful thinking.

1 of 18 is not that special anymore. Finals are really semifinals. And we have no true State Champions any more. Stone cold facts! Part of my quest to reunite men with their Balls.

Seems like balls have been replaced with g seeds Balls and g seeds. Wow, now this is a interesting comparison man. Two round shaped objects, yet different in size and purpose. I tell ya man these two have about as much in common as Hank Williams and 2 Pac. Both humans, but different in so many ways... Wild

I remember the Rockhurst game; you're right, it was a very sad showing. There've been several like that. I agree with you on Chatman. Dude is a beast, no matter where he lines up. I questioned the SMU thing as well. I don't know the reasons for it, not my business. But it still leaves me making my "questioning" face.
