Who are the favorites to make a run in 2A? Looks like Welsh is solid again this year. I have to believe Kinder and Loreauville are way better than their records indicate, just played really tough schedules. Dequincy and Doyle look to be on a roll as well.

What’s the story with Dequincy? I heard they had several stud pitchers returning this year? Based off their schedule they have played really well at times. Any word on Doyle? They have played a really tough schedule and done well.

They have played a really tough schedule and done well. Have no idea about Doyle. We haven’t played well in all three phases of the game yet. If we ever put an entire game together with all three phases, we will be a tough out for anyone. Hasn’t happened yet, but our kids have been deep in the playoffs so we have that going for us when the dance starts. |

Every year a team like that rolls into the playoffs, starts clicking at the right time and makes a run. I honestly wouldn’t mind Winnfield losing a couple more times before the playoffs to sort of wake them up and get them refocused.

I'm sure that gave them a reality check. They also close the season against Many who is a little bit of a puzzle. Many has some good wins but some not so good loses. Now the 1st round of the playoffs is one and done but Regionals and Quarterfinals are 2 of 3 series so they could lose in the playoffs and still make it to Sulphur. Winnfield has been the most impressive team in 2A this season but the playoffs are a different animal and experience counts. I expect to see them in Sulphur though. |

8 of our 9 have playoff experience, 6 being juniors that have started since freshmen year. We’ve played some tough competition and played well, but then turn around and inexplicably lose to teams we should beat handily. We ten runned Bunkie a few weeks ago with our number four pitcher. Friday night we pitch our ace and lose making dumb errors and stranding 11 baserunners. Hope they can get it together before the playoffs because one bad game and you can be out. Even in the three game series, if you tank one game that can be all the motivation the other team needs to take you out. I know they have the team to make it to Sulphur, just hope they can clean things up before playoffs start.

There are several over ranked teams at the top of 2A. I see better teams ranked a little lower.

Any teams in particular you are referring too? I know for sure Kinder and Loreaville are way better than their records and rankings indicate.

I agree. Both are in tough districts and have had tough schedules. Good thing for them is if they both were to win out they would more than likely move up a good bit. Several teams ahead of them have to play each other over the next week and a half.

Always a possibility especially if we play around like we have the last couple of weeks. I do wish we were still doing the three game series instead of the two. Guess we will know this time next week.

2A is wide open not a really strong team. The number one seed in 2A lost to class C Converse.

Converse has only lost 4 games and has won 16 of last 17 including a 10-1 win over Many. Don't be fooled by the records of some teams in 2A. Its tougher than u think. |

Converse pitched their ace and he’s solid. Good enough to be in the rotation on just about any high school team. Class B has several schools that can compete with just about anybody for a game or two. Don’t believe me, look at Pitkin, Quitman and Converses schedules. As for 2A not really having any strong teams , that’s completely ludicrous. 2A is probably stronger overall than 3A and 4A.
No doubt Winnfield has struggled as of late. Seemed to be clicking on all cylinders the first month of the season but bats have went cold last few weeks. If they don’t get back to form they probably won’t make it past the second or third round.

I don't think errors changed the final outcome of the game but it definitely extended innings and put the game out of reach. |

Watch out for Doyle. Their #2 in PR and just took 2 of 3 from St. Thomas Aquinas to.win their District.

No doubt. Doyle has played a tough schedule and most of their losses have been by narrow margins. If Winnfield doesn't take care of business against Many, there is a possibility Doyle moves into the #1.

Looks like #1-3 are pretty secure to stay. Kinder looks like they still have a chance to move into the #4 spot giving them home field all the way to Sulphur. Still could see a lot of movement in the #6- 10 spots.
