I'm told there are proposed changes to the powerpoint system being voted on later this month. Anyone have the details?

The new system being voted on greatly reduces the value of wins. Huge value on who you play, and your district winning percentage.
No idea if it's a good idea or not. If overall winning percentage was equal to opponents winning percentage and district winning percentage I would be on board for sure.

If nobody knows why this is being done, or who it will benefit I'd say it shouldn't be voted in.

Kelly Jones from Denham Springs proposed it
someone has a reason for it... 8-5A added two more teams, so now we're playing everybody once, with the top 4 teams having a district tournament at the end hosted by the #1 seed
but we were playing teams in district such that, we won 27 games and were the 24th seed in the state playoffs
it's wins divided by games played x 3, district wins divided by district games played x 9, and opponents wins divided by opponents games played x 9, no extra points for playing up, and a tie counts as 1/2 a win for both teams

Thanks! I'm not sure I like how much it devalues wins. Opponents record is THREE TIMES more important than your own winning percentage. I do like that district winning percentage is a big factor, I guess we'll just see how it plays out next year.

yep, but I'd be impossible to get 21, cause for you to have a 100% winning percentage your opponents won't have a 100% winning percentage.

I hadn't seen anything about this, and I followed the January meeting and didn't see this voted on. Are you sure this was voted on and passed? Do you know when it takes effect?

Ok, I found it. I guess NOLA.com didn't find it important enough to mention on the live feed of the meeting.
It isn't listed on the rules that go into effect immediately though, so I have to think it doesn't apply this year.

Don't you hate it when you write up a big post and then screw it up somehow and it doesn't get posted?
Well, I made one pointing out what last year would have looked like with the new 2017 Power Rating formula and clicked the wrong button and lost it.......and don't feel like rewriting it.....
So I have attached the ratings so you can see for yourself......
