Summer baseball is coming to an end. There's many different organizations fighting it out for the teams to participate in their version of leagues/tournaments. In Louisiana alone you have PONY, USSSA, Little League, Babe Ruth, Nations, 2D Sports, and OTC Sports. We could argue all day about the pros and cons of each organizations, but here's how some teams/communities finished their season.
In Little League, the state tournament had four teams.
Eastbank LL (John Curtis feeder program) beat South Lake Charles LL (Barbe feeder program) to advance to the Regional tournament in Waco, TX
Eastbank LL is playing in the Regional Title game against Northern LL (Midland, TX) for a chance to make it to the Little League World Series. Winner heads to the world series in Williamsport, PA that starts August 15th.
In PONY Baseball, here's how some finished that were a win or 2 away from the World Series.
PONY (14U) Zone Tournament held at the Youngsville Sports Complex
Welsh went 1-2.
Kinder went 2-2 and lost out in the semi's of their bracket. They beat Gregory/Portland, TX (Corpus Christi, TX area) and Bronco, TX. Their losses were to Hays (Austin, TX area) and NASA (Orange, TX).
Wild Pitch Mizuno (Brownsville, TX) beat NASA Orange in the finals to advance to the PONY World Series in Washington, PA that starts August 9th.
BRONCO (12U) Zone Tournament held in Deer Park, TX
Jennings went 1-2-1.
SATS (Scott) went 2-2.
Both loss in the quarterfinals of their tournament.
MUSTANG (10U) Zone Tournament held in Deer Park, TX
Rayne went 1-2.
SLYSI (Lafayette) went 4-1 and lost in the semi's. SLYSI beat San Juan (Brownsville, TX area) and Blanco, TX in pool play. In bracket play they beat Blanco again then NAO (Austin, TX) before losing to Medina Valley (San Antonio, TX). Medina Valley won the Zone and played in the Mustang World Series in Youngsville.
PINTO (8U) Zone/World Series Tournament held in Youngsville, LA
Broussard Elite went 0-5.
Iota went 4-2 and lost in quarterfinals.
St Landry went 3-2 and lost to Iota in first round of bracket play.
Kinder went 3-4 and finished second in the consolation bracket. They lost to Huntsville, TX in the finals.
Youngsville American went 1-4.
PINTO PLUS (8U) Zone/World Series Tournament held in Youngsville, LA
Youngsville National went 1-3 and Rayne went 1-2. Tournament won by Normoyle Bombsquad from San Antonio
SHETLAND (6U) Zone/World Series Tournament held in Youngsville, LA
Youngsville National went 0-5.
Youngsville American went 3-3 and lost in the quarterfinals.
Iowa went 2-3 and lost in first round of bracket play.
